So after having a couple of conversations about this with Gregonzo, who will be happy to debate circumcision with you at any time, I came to the conclusion that cutting the foreskin is equivalent to cutting the hood from the clit. For a girl, the result of removing the hood would be likely excrutiating until the nerve endings were irritated enough to desensitize, so what would be any different from a boy?

This is mutilation, removing a protective covering from the most sensitive area of the body. And I know this has already been said, but... it is not more sanitary to have the foreskin removed. I obviously don't need to go into it.

It's the same. But since it's usually done when they are just a few minutes old, they grow up with it that way and never know any difference because they have nothing to compare it to. If they had the end of one of their fingers cut off at birth, they'd be completely used to it by the time they're grown and wouldn't understand what the big deal is about not having it cut off.

Of course it's mutilation. And it becomes a vicious cycle. A circumcised guy can't understand any downside to it (never having known any other way), so when he has a son, he wants him to be the same as him, so he has it done to him as well. Sooner or later hopefully education and logic will prevail over this ignorance.

Good reference - I myself was circumcised during the period when it was done to almost anyone born in a US hospital. As was pointed out earlier I have nothing to compare it to so I do not know if I am better or worse off. My kids are all women so I never had to make that decision for another person. Therefore, I guess I sidestepped the entire issue. (grin)

Yeah, but aside from growing up used to it (obviously it becomes natural), I was just speaking of the pain that is caused by the initial operation. Well, the pain caused by the operation, and the pain that follows soon after. Of course it goes away and the children don't remember (at least we don't think so), but I just find it odd that people are so delicate with newborns, but are willing to force them to go under the knife to remove a most sensitive part of their bodies at the same time.

People cut off Rottweilers tails during "puppyhood", though not quite the same as cutting off skin at the end of a penis, it still came to mind.

Wouldn't it be wonderful, if evry male human had the opportunity to make an adult decision about the state of his own penis?

The psychological effects that circumsion has on a child will LAST A LIFETIME

It is ignorant to assume that performing a painful cosmetic surgery on a unwhilling infant is okay because (they will not remember it).......

Myth.....it is a process to ensure cleanliness

Fact......the foreskin promotes "cleanliness" such as an eyelid does for your eyes

    Myth.......it makes sex better?(laugh....hahahah)

Fact........After the foreskin is removed hundreds of sensitive nerve endings die YEARLY on the meatus (head) from being exposed.

    Myth.........a "cut" penis looks better?

Fact.........."what is natural is beautiful" -Gregonzo

i will be willing to discuss in detail just p.m. and i will direct you to some very infromative websites.

Circumsision IS SEXUAL MUTALIATION.............enough said for now

    peace and solidarity

I have some good website references as well. It's amazing with all the scientific and medical facts out there about how wrong circumcision is, that some people still want to continue this maiming of male babies.

Agreed Benji, It has gotten better in the last decade or so. (in the realms of circumcision propoganda anyway)

remember though that "most" physicians are out to line their pockets and in most cases( foreskin removal) is covered by health insurance

SOLUTION= eliminate the option of circumcison from health insurance plans.

it also comes down to parents educating themselves about the process and its effects...

dont let the decision be made hastily by your Pediatrician or midwife.

    cheers
