Because we're allied with Israel. They help us in the middle east. An analogy would be that they're like a pit bull on a leash over there. If we get involved in a serious situation over there they would be a strong ally. Before anyone jumps on me, I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just how it is.

 

It's called altruism. Israel is/was an altruistic concern. Crimea, a lot like S. Hussein's Kuwait, is a selfish design of a concern and decided at the last minute. Good question.:smoking:

The first act by the UN was to form Israel as a nation, with total disregard to the local Palestinian population. The Palestinians had no say so in the matter. There was nothing unselfish in America's actions in the Palestinian matter; just as, there was no unselfish feelings in American hearts in the matter of the Korean war, the Viet Nam war, the El Salvador war, The Grenada war, the Panama war (un-installing Noriega), the Columbia war, the Nicaragua war (attacking Ortega), the Angola war, The Chile war (installing Pinochet), the Libya war (removing Gaddafi), and the Iraq war to remove Saddam Hussain over the issue of Kuwait. Kuwait was a part of Iraq from 4000 BC until 1963 when England and America attacked Iraq to take Kuwait. When the UN was formed in 1947 Kuwait was a part of Iraq. The UN did not recognize Kuwait as an independent country until 1963. The USA really sucks as a world policeman, and the USA routinely acts in total disregard to the welfare of others. Since 1991, the USA has allowed the Kurds to exterminate thousands of Turkmen in northern Iraq so a Kurdish state can be created. That's definitely no altruism.

 

I just say that altruism is the reality through history of the common ideals of various cultures and experiences if you like.

 

When has humanity done anything with good will towards other? Not when Alexander the great invaded half or Asia and Egypt. Not when the Romans had expanded their empire. Not when Gengis Khan moved westward. Not when the Arabs invaded Iberia (Spain). Not when the Templars carried out crusades. Not when the British claimed the sun never sets on their empire. And certainly not when America claimed manifest destiny over the lands of indigenous peoples of this continent. Altruism may have happened on a personal level, never on a national level.

 

An exception would be the formation of the United Nations, as a reaction to the horrors of WW2.
