Celebrate earth hour...so dumb, why not celebrating all year long? Pick up a piece of trash and take quick showers.

Come on now, main ingredient of cheese is milk.

Produced by cows that fart a lot.

Clear all the land, kill all the local wildlife so a bunch of cows can sit around and fart all day.

Cheese, although delicious, is hardly essential.

One of the things we need to give up if we want to be serious about the environment.

Then if there is no cheese, you dont have a job, so cant afford power bills, thus dont use as much power.

    Everybody wins

When I was reading about this recently I learned that they actually burp more than they fart. Just an interesting detail.

This must be it then. So quite a stretch indeed, esp. in north west Europe where it comes to the ground and river pollution. But yes, cow manure is a big problem here. Big conventional farmers always have trouble getting rid of it all. But what doesn't get used on grasslands and on crops gets stocked.
Seems an exaggeration. Only the most intensified cow keeping would kill all the local wildlife and also insects. But for the future we certainly need to de-intensify and imo switch to organic. I wholeheartly agree.

Are you serious, or playing Devil's advocate here? :p We don't need to give everything that's not essential up. We need to change our ways. This often may mean more moderation, but giving a thing like dairy or meat up completely is extremist nonsense.

You know my cheese comes from sheep milk right?

Even worse. Sheep have smellier farts, silent, deadly and toxic

But the milking breed variety isn't roaming the planet in problematic quantities ;) Not sure if the wool/meat kind of sheep are problematic in that regard btw, but there are a lot more of them, here and as i always understood especially there in Australia. And I think New Zealand too? Not sure.

Mmm sheep's milk. Got any pecorino?

Or maybe not, because it's an italian cheese? Do you only make dutch cheese?

Tell me about the cheese of your people

We make one kind of cheese. Soft and fresh (no aging or coating, hence the plastic packaging). The only added ingredient is rennet (had to look the english word up :p) :)
It's a traditional frisian/zealand kind of cheese and at this point mainly (but not only) bought by 50+ folks. But we do zero marketing, branding and advertising so i think if we would we could very well interest new appreciators.
It's traditionally put on rye bread and sprinkled with a little salt and pepper as it has a very neutral taste. Doing so really brings the flavour out. These days its often recommended by sellers to put a slice of tomato, cucumber and/or lettuce on the bread with it.

It's an empty gesture to remind people about energy issues. But yeah, if anyone thinks turning lights off for an hour actually helps anything at all, they be clueless. In fact, if people were serious and turned off all power for an hour, it would WASTE a massive amount of energy and potentially damage the power grid. Power company turbines are loaded with pressurized steam from nuclear or coal combustion that can not be stopped for an hour. They would have to vent and waste that energy. They run optimized for an expected daily energy demand curve.

Really? By definition? Seems that all depends on how it's done don't you agree? Earth hour may not be the best way.

Only tall flightless birds known to poke their heads in the regolith and a group of misguided politicians in the US don’t see a serious crisis at hand. We need to do everything possible to insure our planet remains habitable.

Can't wait until Earth Day 2020 to celebrate the 50th anniversary.

Hopefully congress will pass some meaningful legislation

Wow, and so much has been achieved in 50 years

Earths population 1970 was 3.7 Billion
    Today 7.7 Billion

So more than double the garbage

So you ask what’s been done; well I can provide you with at least one example.

Are you familiar with the song Dirty Water by the standells?

If you are the Charles river in Boston used to be a real polluted dump, a real cesspool, now it’s almost clean enough to drink from due in no small part to the efforts of Earth Day.

    Yeah, down by the river
Down by the banks of the river Charles
    (Aw, that's what's happenin' baby)
    That's where you'll find me
Along with lovers, muggers, and thieves
    (Aw, but they're cool people)
Well I love that dirty water
    Oh, Boston, you're my home

Oh, well Flint has got some hope then. :)
I hope they also have heard that song, for reassurance.
