Don't know much (if anything) about Politics 'Down Under' - but "The newly-appointed PM received a congratulatory message of support from US President Donald Trump" would make one 'afraid... very afraid'

Same in Canada, anywhere wirh the Westminister system, you vote for the party Not the PM.

As to why its happened so often here the last decade, well defies logic. Get rid of the current PM because he might not lead the party to victory next election....at the same time piss enough voters off to ensure they dont win the next election

Australia: where voting is compulsory and the results don't matter.

Actually, attendance if you have not done a postal vote is compulsory. You still have the option of spoiling you voting paper.

But still, the results don't matter. They make you vote, you vote because you have to, and the results don't matter because they can just change PM whenever they want like they have been so why should voting be compulsory under those circumstances? It's all rigged and is all bullshit.

This "voters have the power" is just a bullshit guise, plain and simple truth is, it doesn't matter who you vote for, the results don't matter.

Did anybody vote for this new PM? Nope, he wasn't even on the ballot, and somehow he's in charge. "we the people" is just propaganda.

Does matter in the sense if we dissolve compulsory voting the crazies get a bigger proportion of loyal voters.

Take away compulsory voting, bible thumper parties, whackjobs like Hanson or Kater who have a more loyal brand of voters end up getting more seats, thus more power.

That is, we'd end up like the US, France or Spain.

Yeah and Italy has had 8 in the last 10 years and 5 since 2011,of course stability is a good thing but the government is the sum of all it's parts and it takes more than one person to lead our nation by the way it's a bit rich to talk about the LNP removing the leader, the ALP is no better in fact they are probably worse, remember the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd merry go round ?
Anyway the country is actually run by the heads of department like the treasury, that's why the bureaucrats are paid more than the PM..

Yeah, but I was happy when they got rid of Rudd and Abbott early, both very weird dudes.

But Turnbull, he was distinguished, looked and acted like a Prime Minister....and they got rid of him for this ScoMo douchebag, I hate his face
