So who here watches UFC? Lets talk about mixed martial arts. Who's your favourite fighter?

And my random thought for the day, why is there no sports forum in hf? Is it uncool for hippies to enjoy sports?

 

I don't think it's uncool for somebody to like something -- even sports.

It's just that here in America, certain sports have become so corporatized that it takes all the enjoyment out of watching a game.

I have seen some UFC fights, but I never much liked watching two people beat the shit out of one another. Something about it bothers me. Maybe I am just a puss, though.

 

I got this one buddy who watches wrestling, but talks shit about UFC because they look like they're having gay sex.

UFC was good to watch in the 90s, but i don't get into all that crap

 

I like it how they have nicknames lol. I'm not into UFC though, at all.
I could get into boxing though.

I watched a lot of UFC when I was younger, but I cant really get into it anymore.
I used to like watching Matt Hughes fight, that dude was badass

My friend from work was dating a mixed martial arts fighter and wanted me to go to one of fights. I didn't, not into it. I don't really like sports though.

 

Jon Jones, all the way. I'm really looking forward to a fight between him and Anderson Silva, though I fear for the latter.

I watch the UFC quasi-religiously with a friend of mine who's an amateur jiu-jitsu wrestler himself, and his wife. We've also been to live events.

I don't watch it, but I passed out in a UFC fighter's hotel room once. Cool story, I know.

Yeah I'd be done in all about 2 1/2 seconds.

 

I've done martial arts 20+ years. 1st Tae Kwon Do, then kung fu.
I've followed boxing a lot as a sport, and also bits on the training side of UFC.

UFC does baffle me a bit. A lot of bouts tend to be wrestling, bodybuilder types. Whereas I'm more a fan of the Bruce Lee fists of steel, extreme speed types (traditional martial arts)

The Chinese view is that you cant really have proper competitve fights.. unless you are prepared to have a lot of deaths in fights. As happened in the early 20th Century.

Getting back to UFC, I wonder how it will evolve. For instance, I notice there is a lot of fuss about knee kicks and demands for them to be banned..

Favourite fighter? Still Bruce Lee even tho he wasnt around for UFC.
