i are it what? i are green furred and not quite human. (at least here on the net, when a one legged man can still be tarzan)
I just read a short story called Ur. It had to do with alternate universes where things were largely the same but slightly different.
^ i read that a few months ago. it was interesting at the time, but apparently not that memorable since i just had to google it to remind myself who it was by and what it was actually about.
yeah. it was in a compilation book of his short stories that i got for my mom, and then took from her when she was done with it.
Yes, I am reading it now. Not his best collection of short stories. And I think I have read them all or maybe most.
now that you mention "Ur", i think i read something by that name back in the 70s when it was furst published. it was ted sturgeon or p.k.dick or someone back then, i don't remember for sure who wrote it either, only that it was in the science fiction genre. how can you know you've awakened in a different parallel universe then the one you went to sleep it? if everyone remembers something you remember, only they remember it happening substantially differently. otherwise, you'd never even notice or realize that you had. of course most people just chalk it up to figuring their own memory had gotten corrupted somehow. happens all the time to everyone, its just one of those things you never notice if you don't know what to look for. what happens to your other self you've traded places with? well they've traded places with you. that's all. this is of course equally silly to say, but how would/does anyone know otherwise? they/we don't.
