The air was cold as dawn broke and the stars faded like a sigh.
We stood watching the future before us rise, vanquishing the night.
The symbolism didn't go unnoticed, but all the same remained unspoken.
There was a subtle feeling of oppression that the day brought reminding us that this was all just temporary.
The endless night felt free from time and a life so sedentary.
But as with everything an end is imminent and serves to remind us of a universe devoid of permanence.
A sad and sullen feeling hung in the air, a feeling of despair, like a long lost friend was missed and never to return.
The fire light that danced and glowed and kept us company now embers, ash and remnants of what's burned.
A metaphor for many things, among them beautiful memories and wasted dreams.
Now the atmosphere scatters sunlight, turning black to blue.
Obscuring all that lay beyond us, illuminating everything we have to lose. Everything we have to prove. Illuminating you.
