Yeah... If it's not dry enough and seasoned it don't burn right. It burns but not hot enough to keep the chimney hot so it get's creosote buildup. Nasty shit, that...

i havent had rabbit yet, but id like to raise some for meat. hubby bought a duck from the store last night, im looking forward to it. theres a lot of pricking and scoring involved to let the fat run out.
i saw geese fly overhead this morning and i suddenly wanted so badly to go hunting. ive never been, have always been interested, but this was like a compulsion. it was like tunnel vision, i could see where the meat was on the geese, if only i was taller. i might have to get good with a slingshot. nice and quiet. urban hunting.

 

there was at least 2000 geese in the field beside my house most of the day today...they were very loud

 

I've had rabbit, squirrel, alligator, venison, hog and dove.
All pretty good to eat.

My boyfriend has never gone hunting but really wants to also.

I'm from AL, so of course, I have tried half of that list. . . barring rabbit, squirrel, and dove. Those three are way too country for me. I need to be fiendishly starving and about to kill somebody and eat them before I eat those three. Venison is actually pretty good, once you figure out the best way to cook it. Hog is pork, so there's not much difference there. Alligator, believe it or not, is actually really fucking tasty. Étouffée is the best way to enjoy alligator.
