And lets not forget that Kapernick was made Man of the Year for his "Freedom of Speech" position he took using the NFL platform. Yet Tim Tebow who got booted out for showing his Christian religious beliefs did not. Seems pretty clear the direction the media wants us to think.
Like what for fuck sake? What ‘left wing politics’ are they ‘ramming’ down your throat? And exactly how is the far right ‘winning’
Not true. It wasn't my premise to begin with. I asked for a list of school shootings that would confirm the claim that children are being murdered at school in record numbers. You provided a list of shootings that include those occurring in college parking lots late at night, disgruntled teachers shooting their boss, gang related shootings, late night robberies in parking lots, disputes arising from gambling on a college campus, a police chase that ended up on a college campus, a college student who shot his mother and father, and other such incidents unrelated to the premise. So it would appear that you are the one who massaged the data, so to speak, by choosing a source that includes many shootings that do not involve children at all.
This is part of a crazy right narrative. The NFL, sports in general, have been losing ratings for years. It's not because one guy silently took a knee nor does one guy silently taking a knee constitute "ramming politics down throats" The way in which entertainment is consumed now, ie streaming services, is the reason for changing ratings for Hollywood, not politics. Hollywood has always leaned hard left.
So the ratings were down for the Oscars. What does that tell you? It tells me, that most people watching the Oscars are conservative.
Kerri I think maybe liberal on some levels but hard left I don’t see it and there has always been things like Red Dawn and Rambo III, etc
Yes context and details matter. That's why (as properly explained in this thread) its clear labeling conservatism as the new counterculture is a bit too simple.
Maybe the entertainment industry should do what it does best: entertain. Politics is ugly. We are inundated with it day in and day out. Entertainment is supposed to be an escape from the dreary bullshit of day to day life that is politics. When you put politics into anything fun (left or right wing), you suck all the entertainment out of it. Sure, I like discussing politics from time to time, but constant bombardment of it every day is really putting people off. Anyway, I hope the left keeps this shit up, because it's grossing out more people away from their agenda.
You're as always too eager to connect the dots. Just because you can connect certain dots doesn't mean you get the correct picture with it.
Thanks for explaining your assesment about the NHL, Oscars, Hollywood and the general left was based on dissatisfaction and wishful thinking as usual.
Not really about this thing, as we were talking about the present time and situation. Agree to disagree would apply here more
The mid-terms are eight months away and if Trump continues to disappoint Americans with his dismal performance we can expect the Dems to take back control of the house and senate. And there's no reason to think he won't continue!
Meh. Seems idle hope they learned a lot from the past and their own mistakes. So I expect the status quo will be restored and the Republicans are back in the saddle next time, and so on. Sometimes it will be real exciting who wins: the turd sandwich or the giant douchebag. More people will lose faith in the american democracy.
Well, happily there are some other countries where its functioning far better to take notice from. And a lot of countries with non or fake democratic systems that are doing consistently worse. I don't think the majority of americans is gonna prefer a nondemocratic system any time soon. You?
