That's why we're looking forward to the midterms. Let the Dems get control of congress. I'm not saying I want Bernie for Pres., I'd just like to have him stick around to keep shaking things up. Let's get the Repubs out of congress first, then work on getting them out of the white house.

Many are afraid to admit and speak out what they actually believe, because it could risk their livelihoods. So they play it safe, and just nod their heads with the rest of mainstream society. More reason why conservative libertarianism is becoming the new counterculture.

No one is in voting booth with you unless you believe some "deep state' Hillary people are watching you so you can't. The numbers do not lie. There is no major movement among people of any age to support current political views. Most people were so disgusted they did not vote and they may regret that now. But you are dreaming if you think you are some oppressed but large mass. Why do the Republicans not have 90% of the vote if you are?

Just think. The Dems just need to gain back another 1000 state and federal seats to get back to where they were when Obama took office. 38 down. Hold on to your dreams.

Did you also hear it in 2008 and 2012? Do you understand the electoral college? If you did I don't think you would make such statements. You are not even close to 51%. Do you have the presidency? Sure but it's been so embarrassing things will change.

Well thankfully only white Americans can be "racists". Wouldn't it totally suck if other races of people hated people just because of their color? Madness, sheer madness.

OK just to remind people about this from the Politics Forum Guidelines -

As often stated this is not a bulletin board it is a place to debate politics.

For that reason cut and pasted articles or links [including video] should be used sparingly and more as a way to highlight a persons viewpoint rather than as a replacement for a persons viewpoint.

People that consistently post articles or links without comment may find their posts removed.

    LOL

Trump – I believe the approval rate for Trump is around 35-7% in the US so it would seem a majority of Americans ‘gripe’ about Trump are they all left wings? WOW you actually think more than 60% of Americans are socialists? So you like Trump is great?

Climate Change (manmade climate change) is a fact are you saying the right wing don’t accept facts?

Black Lives Matters – well some on the right a so delusional that they call BLM a ‘terrorist’ organisation, I you honestly saying that you don’t think there are racial problems in the US?

The NRA – have you seen their ads? It’s all about trying to spread fear and paranoia to sell guns.

Bending the knee – are you opposed to peaceful protect and the first amendment?

I mean this is hilarious man - come on I want more - what other leftist talking points are you thinking about?

This time, I’m not arguing the basis of these provided examples.

I’m arguing that politics is a dreary and divisive topic that siphons all the joy out of entertainment that normally brings people of all walks of life together.

There’s a time and a place to talk politics, and that time is not 24/7. People need to escape it from time to time in order to enjoy life.

Maybe, just Maybe, if the entertainment industry was less about the grandstanding of leftist politics, they wouldn’t be losing as much money as they are today.

Even if they were constantly pushing policies I actually agreed with, I’d still get put off by it. Because I also hate listening to libertarians gripe all the time.

LOL – so in your opinion EVERY entertainment programme made in the US is pushing ‘leftist politics’

    EVERYTHING?

    Really?

Wow this following on from your last post i'd have to say that sorry mate I really think you need to seek some help.

LOL - I mean I’d say that one of the symptoms of Paranoia is the irrational feeling that there is a conspiracy going on designed just to attack your viewpoint

As a good libertarian, you should be confident that the market should take care of the "problem" you're addressing, if there is one. I feel the same way about Fox "news". The thing that bothers me about Fox is that it doesn't even pretend to be objective journalism, but calls itself "entertainment" and thus gets by serving up a steady diet of right wing propaganda disguised as news. MSNBC is the left wing counterpart. Why don't they just stick to reporting the facts? Who cares about their opinions? What I ordinarily do is flip the channel. The political Right has always been nervous about Hollywood and its decadent ways. Hollywood assumes a dominant role in the culture, because America loves the movies, and the political leanings of Hollywood celebrities lean left, just as televangelists, NASCAR (or the France family owners), and country western music (since the late sixties) lean to the right.

    When Country Went Right.
Why can't those TV preachers, NASCAR folks and country/western entertainers just stick to the gospel, racing, and music, respectively, and keep their political opinions to themselves? I think it's probably because they get more viewers that way. I suspect that the reason you're concerned about Hollywood and the Academy Awards is not because you think they're ruining their own ratings, but because you think they're still too influential on American public opinion and their opinions differ from yours. That's life. The alternatives are :censorship, which was tried in the fifties, along with congressional investigation of Hollywood "subversives"; and not patronizing them, which is a course of action I find more congenial. if people are leaving in droves, as you suggest, Hollywood should get the message. I personally would rather spend my time reorganizing my sock drawer than watching the Oscars.

LOL You said 24/7 – which means twenty four hours a day seven days a week doesn’t it? I think that covered everything.

    Nice try though

I think Okie nailed you with that

These are the same people who voted for Obama in a landslide the minute the crap hit the fan. Loyalty to the right wing only goes as deep as their pockets. You didn't think they elected the Duck for his upstanding moral values did you?

People who vote with their pocket book are not exactly anything new. Obama won in a landslide because the same people who voted for the Duck want their damned money and could not care less who the fuck gives it to them. Are libertarians all this out of touch with reality? Can you not tell when someone only wants your money?

Trump is being accused by Stormy Daniels and other women of either affairs or outright sexual assault. He's threatening a trade war with China which could damage our economy. He's threatening actual wars with North Korea and Iran. He keeps firing more and more staff members. Robert Mueller isn't finished with him. And the constant barrage of lies.

    Turbulent times indeed.
