The only viable lesson the Republicans can learn from this is to distance themselves from Trump. If they continue to support him then the American people won't support them.
Isn't it obvious? The Oscars, for example, have gone gotten increasingly more political over the years. Just for clueless celebrities to express their political opinions to gripe about Trump, global warming, black lives matter, the NRA, and all other leftist talking points. Just to score more points with their employers. The NFL used to be about bringing people together to watch a game from all walks of life, now it's a podium for political grandstanding and virtue signaling. If leftism is still countercultural and cool, the ratings wouldn't be plummeting the way they are.
I honestly thought Kaepernick was doing something right, ratings be darned! It's time for us to speak, not remain silent. About abuse, brutality, and lots of other things too. I don't consider that leftist. i consider it American. That you don't sort of makes me wonder where you're coming from. I suspect racism has had a troubling influence on your mentality and political identity, but that's your business.
Would you say the same about Tebow being an anti-abortion activist while using the NFL as a platform?
I wasn't aware of Tebow. But you're saying do I think he should stand against abortion on television using his celebrity as a platform? Absolutely! That's sensational, though I don't agree with him. If he wanted to turn NFLers away from abortion, or Americans as it were, that's his prerogative. And what is it hurting? Not one thing. But was Tebowing an anti-abortion thing? Was he out kneeling or anything? What does he do? Just speak?
In college Tebow inscribed Bible verses on the black patches worn under his eyes during games. He was a little extreme. I remember Troy Polamalu making the sign of the cross before each play...and no one complained...because he wasn't proselytizing.
Ugh, yeah I've pretty much given up on the idea of the US ever electing a president who will actually enact the sort of change we really need
I came across this interesting read on the subject of Millenials and their political leanings. Millennials more conservative than you may think - CNN
Here's another article backing what I said about the conservative direction the youth are leaning toward. Generation Z’s Rightward Drift
What you are seeing is that society in genial endorses these views. You feel like a victim because few people believe what you do. Its' why 30 years ago you did not see this. But times change. The Oscars and NFL are not interested in controversy for every person that turns it off for being "liberal" 2 more are tuning in. Trump got 1 of 4 eligible votes and even less then that listen to Alex Jones.
And Kapernick is out after he made racists uncomfortable because an "uppity ******" dared to point out the racism in this country. Hell there's admitted ones on this HIPPY SITE. They are here in all their racist glory.
It's the way it's set up. Because there is a bicameral legislature, no one party can have all the control; unless they do, which would be weird; like if for some reason California and New York and all the other typical blue states voted red in the midterm. Not all the seats are up for election, so of course there would be residual bicameralness. I guess what I'm saying is that Congress always is the policy maker. If they don't like the President's agenda, change doesn't get passed into law. So, indirectly it's because of Congress. One example is Bernie Sanders. His tax proposal is a little weird for me, but anyway, it would never get approved in Congress. So in that way, even if a really great (I don't know if you like Bernie Sanders) President were to get elected, it might not effect much change.
It looks like nobody wants him to play for them. I don't even know how good he is. I've only heard of him because he was in the news so much. It looks like they have turned their backs on him though.
Apparently he is also not qualified to comment on race relations because he was raised middle class and is mixed. He will never play in the NFL again though so that should make some people happy. In a few decades he will be respected but for now he's just too much of a security risk for a NFL team. Their games will become targets for violence or at the least protests which make people reluctant to take their kids to the game. There are lots of QB's
