    We did with 3,140 deaths

Next month we’ll easily overtake the battle of Antietam, but we’ll never reach the hallmark set by the 1900 hurricane

They NEVER HAVE .......................AND THEY NEVER WILL. The core of their ideology is "Every man for himself. The biggest, strongest sharks get it all, the smaller fish eat the leftover scraps." This is "trickle-down economics." The only thing "trickling down" is either yellow or brown to the "little guys & girls." The REPUBLICAN PARTY doesn't care about any avg. Americans struggling during this Covid-19 global pandemic - but they sure put up a huge fight to take care of the rich & powerful with their corporate bailouts & tax breaks. Just look at the "deal" proposed by muck-mouth McConnell for the stimulus bill ......... a 1-time $600 payment to citizens but they lose their unemployment benefits!!!! What a P.O.S. that slimeball is. But hundreds of billions in relief for their corporate business benefactors who shovel huge $$$$ billions into their election campaigns.

They won't TELL people that, but that's really the essence of it. Their secret is this ..... " If enough people can't figure it out for themselves ........ WE certainly aren't going to spell it out for them!!! "

So if you don't have the "right connections", or the "insider track", or "know the right people" - or as so many do - inherit their wealth from daddy - - - you'll fight and struggle for every little TINY scrap you & your family get. The retired or early-retired Congressional folks - especially - but not exclusively - on THE REPUBLICAN side, usually end up taking VERY HIGHLY PAID "consulting jobs" at large corporations as a way to re-pay them for their service to their company ............. I mean "country."

Why are we saying only 3600 for Antietam by the way?

    More like 20,000 plus

20,000+ dead, wounded, or missing, the vast majority being wounded.

Most of the missing just means there wasnt enough left to identify, and a large chunk of the wounded would have succumbed to their injuries later, Antietam would beat Galveston I think

Some crazy shit considering your population was only 32 million at that time

Even at 3600, X by 11 and it would be the equivalent of losing 40,000 in a day today

Regardless of the number of dead, between christmas shopping, christmas family gatherings, and New Years eve party's,
by mid January expect the number of covid-19 deaths to soar off the charts.

US poised to hit 16m Covid cases and 300,000 deaths

    Reuters
    Dec 12th 2020 3:13PM
A mounting US death toll has tempered enthusiasm about a coming Covid-19 vaccine with 9/11-like fatalities projected every day for the months ahead, even with a rapid rollout of inoculations, which could start as soon as Monday.

The country is poised to hit a record 16 million cases in the coming days, with deaths closing in on the 300,000 mark.

The first vaccine was approved late on Friday by the US Food and Drug Administration and is expected to touch off a mass-inoculation campaign of unparalleled dimension to end the pandemic that has upended daily life and devastated the US economy.

"FDA APPROVES PFIZER VACCINE FOR EMERGENCY USE!!!" President Donald Trump announced on Friday night on Twitter. He promised Americans the vaccinations would begin in less than 24 hours.

But US Army General Gustave Perna said on a Saturday news call that the first shipments will begin on Sunday and will be delivered to 145 locations around the country on Monday.

The remainder of the 636 delivery locations selected by states and US territories will receive doses on Tuesday and Wednesday, he said, adding that Pfizer will have more doses ready every week for distribution and administration.

The first batch of shots is expected to be aimed largely at health care workers and residents and staff of long-term care facilities.

The approval of the Pfizer drug by the US Food and Drug Administration marks a turning point in the United States, where the pandemic has killed more than 295,000 people - more than in any other nation in the world - as the recent surge of infections has again overwhelmed healthcare systems.

The country reported its highest daily cases, more than 232,700, on Friday, according to a Reuters tally. In the latest 7-day average, the United States is reporting 2,411 deaths per day, the highest 7-day average since the pandemic started.

US coronavirus hospitalisations were 107,684 by the end of Friday, the highest so far.

On Nov. 21, the United States hit a landmark 12 million cases.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who along with several other governors vowed to review the vaccine before allowing it in their states, announced late on Friday that state officials have given the drug the green light.

"The vaccine, that is the weapon that ends the war," Cuomo said in a press briefing on Saturday.

But he warned that it might be June or later before life will start to return to normal as more of the US population receives the drug.

Urging people to be patient, Cuomo said, "Between today and June, that's a long way."

Although I have no doubt that you have obtained your statistics from so called reliable sources, the figure of 300,000 deaths out of 16 million sufferers is complete rubbish.
It indicates that around 1 in 50 people who contract the virus are dying. The true figure is around 1 in 500,
This is a combination of both not having a clue about the number of people who have recovered at home, along with a muddled figure concerning north Americas 5,000 cancer deaths every day.

As I have posted before, our ACCURATE mortality figure for the period ending 31st October 2020 is running 2.7% higher than the 5 year average, so covid is a killer.
However, it is advanced cancer sufferers having only a matter of weeks cut off their life that is producing these figures.

With the strategy of using our first batch of vaccine to protect the vulnerable, I have little doubt that our death rate will return to near normal. Needless to say, we will still need to be careful not to overwhelm the NHS ICU units. I imagine that we will be continuing SOME restrictions long into 2021.

PS, You qualify for immunisation during phase 1, so make sure that you claim your place in the rota.
PPS. What has happened in the US, makes your best friend Boris look like a saint. Don't forget to subscribe generously to his halo fund. :):):);););):(:(:(

Sad update ............. We're now over 300,000 U.S. citizens DEAD from Covid-19. We have 4% of the world's population but 25% of the world's Covid-19 cases and deaths.
What a sad, sinful, CRIMINAL handling of this global pandemic here in the U.S. There are STILL many people who WILL NOT wear masks out in public. They see masks as a sign of "weakness" ......... when it's actually a sign of stupidity.

If they want a return to "normal" - case numbers will start dropping if everyone would just start wearing masks & keep social distance. It's a SIMPLE way to protect each other!!! The sooner we ALL act - the sooner we can get back to a more "normal" way of life.

    "Nope ............... I ain't wearin' no damn mask." ( quote of a rocket scientist ) o_O

And for all the REAL Christians out there ............. indifference toward your fellow human beings' needs and safety is a SIN ............ A SIN!!! Just as getting drunk and getting behind the wheel is a SIN. Or ignoring your kids' doctor visits. Or taking drugs - regardless of how your drug use affects your family. Indifference is indifference ( "I only care about what I want - not what others need" ) and it's a SIN !!!

    • the median length of stay in a nursing home before death was 5 months
    • the average length of stay was longer at 14 months due to a small number of study participants who had very long lengths of stay
    • 65% died within 1 year of nursing home admission
    • 53% died within 6 months of nursing home admission

Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, UK, US

Still seems to be a lot of denial as to why these countries have a high rate of deaths per 100,000 or deaths per Million and yet actually have a low mortality rate deaths/cases

I don't hear anyone blaming Macron, and you all wouldn't even know who the federal leader of Belgium is unless you googled

Just have too many obese and old people in those countries, it is that simple
