The economy that existed BEFORE Rump - that he destroyed by his lies and misinformation about the severity of the Covid-19 threat - will survive long after Rump leaves. He talks as if the U.S. will roll over and die without him!! Just more narcissism from the fat orange one.

I think the U.S. debt will eventually destroy the economy. Next year, our federal debt will exceed our GDP. What happens when we can no longer pay the interest on the debt? We can just print more money, but eventually, we're going to have out of control inflation.

    ^^^^^^^^ "Deficits don't matter." - Dick Cheyney.

And if the deficit is such a major headache - why does THE REPUBLICAN PARTY repeatedly give HUGE TAX BREAKS to the ultra-rich???? Shouldn't they pay their FAIR share in taxes to help keep the U.S. more financially solvent???

The REPUBLICAN PLAN is always to slash funding for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid .......................... you know ........................ for all those older, poor folks who actually did the work of building this country. That's how THE REPUBLICANS always want to cut the deficit ....................... by taking from people who actually NEED those programs just to survive and pay life's ESSENTIAL BILLS ................. not to buy luxuries. And also to slash funding for the EPA that protects our environment, OSHA - which enforces workplace safety laws, the USDA which protects our food safety ( and how much have food-borne illnesses increased since George W. Bush - another REPUBLICAN - slashed those budgets??? ) Numbers of people being made sick or even dying from food-borne illnesses have steadily increased since those idiotic moves.

THE REPUBLICAN tax "overhaul" under Rump has taken hundreds of billions of dollars out of the Treasury Dept. .......................... and handed the vast majority of it to the ultra-rich multi-millionaires and multi-billionaires ........... again.

If you want to see how Jesus views greed and indifference toward one's fellow man ..................... read the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. It's in Luke, Chapter 16 - vs. 19 through 31. After reading that parable - see if you think the rich ought to still have more given to them ............... while the much poorer should be ignored and neglected.

Republican logic says that socialism is bad because people are greedy. BUT and this is a a big but if we have a capitalist system that gives socialist polices to the rich the rich will decide to be socialists and share their wealth.

If you tax them it's evil and will never work. But in capitalism they will be so thankful that the system exists they will give away even more than can be taxed. They have not taken a college economics class and I don't know if they can even read. The early MAGA hats did say made in China. Nothing tickles down the capitalist Trump was greedy and made the most profit he could.

The American right wing is still waiting for jobs that are not coming back and they expect a man who has never worked a hard day in his life to do it. I notice among these people if you have not worked some kind of blue collar 60 hour week you "don't know their struggle". But then they pick Trump while still being jealous of the "elites" who are too rich to work a hard day:tearsofjoy:

Obama was a lot poorer than Mr. Orange. He actually made something of his life though hard work but he was always an elite because he was a success. Same thing with Bernie. They loved to point out how a book he wrote (aka his own work and ideas) made him richer than Mr. Joe Sick Pack. But we know how they felt about thoes men.

Proof, if proof were needed - Hephatrump is delusional !!!

Trump Said He’d Give Himself An 'A' For His Handling Of Covid-19
The president told journalist Bob Woodward in July that he'd actually give himself an A-plus "if we come up with the vaccines and therapeutics."

Donald Trump told journalist Bob Woodward in July that he deserved an A for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic that had already killed over 70,000 people by that time.

The Washington Post reporter interviewed Trump 18 times for roughly nine hours total for his new book, “Rage.” Continuing a discussion about his leadership, the president told Woodward in July how he thought he’d handled Covid-19.

Trump insisted that he’d begun “executing” his plans, saying “I will have immigration done. I will have health care done. I think we’re going to have vaccines soon. I think we already have them.”

“But they’re in tests,” he added. “And you’ll see them being announced over the next month. Now would you view that as a game-changer?”

Woodward responded by asking Trump what grade he would give himself for his handling of the pandemic.

“I give ourselves an A,” said Trump. “But the grade is incomplete, and I’ll tell you why. If we come up with the vaccines and therapeutics, then I give myself an A-plus.”

Taking it further, Woodward asked Trump what he’s “learned” about himself.

“I can handle more than other people can handle,” Trump replied. He added that “very strong people, people that are successful, even” had told him, “I swear to you, I don’t know how it’s possible for you to handle what you handle. How you’ve done this, with the kind of opposition, the kind of shenanigans, the kind of illegal witch hunts.”

The president later added that “the virus has nothing to do with me” and said, “It’s not my fault. It’s ― China let the damn virus out.”

Covid-19 has now claimed the lives of more than 190,000 Americans and more than 900,000 people worldwide.

In an earlier interview with Woodward, Trump admitted that he knowingly downplayed the severity of the disease.

“I wanted to always play it down,” Trump told Woodward on March 19. “I still like playing it down, because I don’t want to create a panic.”

This is living proof that the man is delusional. And look how he says "If we come up with vaccines and therapeutics, then I give myself an A-plus." He talks as if HE is the one inventing the vaccines - always quick to take credit for things he has nothing to do with. That's a long-standing pattern for the fat orange one.

    Covid and Social Darwinism

Many on the right believe to one degree or another in the crack-pot ideas of Social Darwinism and it often underpins their general philosophy below is a quote from Herbert Spencer often called the grandfather of Social Darwinism and take note of the last line that I have bolded

It seems hard that a labourer incapacitated by sickness from competing with his stronger fellows should have to bear the resulting privations. It seems hard that widows and orphans should be left to struggle for life or death. Nevertheless, when regarded not separately, but in connection with the interests of universal humanity, these harsh fatalities are seen to be full of the highest beneficence…the same beneficence that brings to early graves the children of diseased parents, and singles out the low-spirited, the intemperate, and the debilitated as the victims of an epidemic. . .Herbert Spencer

Social Darwinism is based on the idea of there been superior and inferior people, the strong and the weak, the fit and the unfit – in the context of Covid 19 that means that it is the inferior who would die and the superior that wouldn’t and since in my experience nobody that believes in Social Darwinist ideas things of themselves as inferior then such people are likely to believe that as a superior they don’t need to take precautions, wear a face mask or social distance since they are not going to die or even get ill.

(And I’ve heard that for some Social Darwinists types that associate superior and inferior to race the fact that the virus seems to be effecting Black and Latinos peoples in higher numbers is a confirmation of their views).

There is also another aspect in this many Social Darwinists connect advantage with superiority and disadvantage with inferiority – and so it not surprising that the advantaged with these views who do actually believe they could get the virus nonetheless are still happy to push others back to work in crowded offices and factories as well as onto packaged public transport (things that they as the more advantaged they would not have to suffer).

I mean if you believe that the world would be a better place if there were less ‘inferior’ people in it then a high number of Covid deaths could be even be seen as something to celebrate.

It's going to keep hanging around while people deny reality. College football is back so the right wing does not care. I would say the NFL too but apparently no one watches them because black men should entertain not have opinions. This is not the case at all. The NFL is a way of life and everyone still watches but Fox swears they can cancel it. I don't know about that. My home state LOVES their team. People still wait 10-20 years to have a shot at season tickets. So I just chuckle.

Trump can keep making his emotional arguments about football because he knows he screwed up elsewhere. Americans feel like they won but they are going to continue to suffer. As long as they can see the TD scored grandma is a worthy sacrifice to not be democrats. The same grandma who was going to be sent to a "death panel" because she cost too much to care for under Obama.

COVID-19 situation update worldwide, as of 23 September 2020

    America
    : 537 929 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United States (200 807), Brazil (138 108), Mexico (74 348), Peru (31 586) and Colombia (24 570).

    Europe: 219 245 deaths; the five countries reporting most deaths are United Kingdom (41 825), Italy (35 738), France (31 416), Spain (30 904) and Russia (19 649).

What you are saying is, somebody that has a heart condition, but dies from COVID and not a heart attack should not be counted as a COVID death because they had an existing condition... It just doesn't work that way.

Well, with Trump and Melania testing positive for the coronavirus, I wonder if his response (and general opinion) will change.
