Oh dear - that stupid bastard Hephatrump thinks that a boundary wall between the US and Mexico, not only will it stop immigrants, he now believes it has stopped Covid - 19.

Trump said this whilst on a visit to a border state in Arizona. QUESTION: Which state has one of the highest levels of Covid - 19 infection ??? - Yeah - Arizona !!!

Trump credits new border wall with stopping migrants, and coronavirus

President Donald Trump has visited the US-Mexico border to celebrate the construction of more than 200 miles of wall, hoping it will remind voters of progress he has made towards one his 2016 campaign promises.

The president credited the wall with stopping not just illegal immigration, but also coronavirus, saying: "It stopped Covid, it stopped everything."

But his visit played out as top public health officials in Washington were testifying about the ongoing threat posed by coronavirus and singling out Arizona as one of the states now experiencing a surge in cases.

President Trump was looking to regain campaign momentum after his weekend rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was supposed to be a sign of the nation's reopening and a show of political force but instead generated thousands of empty seats and swirling questions about the president's campaign leadership and his case for another four years in office.

The low turnout sharpened the focus on President Trump's visit to Arizona, which doubles as both a 2020 battleground state and a surging coronavirus hot spot.

By visiting the border, the president sought to change the subject to an issue he believes will help electrify his base in November.

"Our border has never been more secure," President Trump declared as he met with Republican Governor Doug Ducey and federal Border Patrol officials.

Throughout the trip, the Covid-19 pandemic is shadowing President Trump. The Democratic mayor of Phoenix made it clear she does not believe the speech can be safely held in her city — and urged the president to wear a face mask.

President Trump has refused to wear a mask in public, instead turning it into a red-vs-blue cultural issue. Polling suggests Republicans are far less likely to wear face coverings than Democrats despite health experts' warnings that it dramatically reduces the risk of transmitting the virus.

Since late May, Arizona has emerged as one of the nation's most active hotspots for the spread of Covid-19.

Arizona is seeing disturbing trends in several benchmarks, including the percentage of tests that prove positive for the virus, which is the highest in the nation.

The state reported a new daily record of nearly 3,600 additional coronavirus cases on Tuesday as Arizona continued to set records for the number of people hospitalised, in intensive care and on ventilators for Covid-19.

Arizona's total caseload in the pandemic stands at at least 58,179, with 42 more deaths reported on Tuesday, raising the death toll to 1,384.

    1) Is he actually out of favour with the President? Fauci seems to not be getting as much press in general lately. There is no real new information he personally is going to provide

    2) Yes, 40 years of experience means nothing with a new virus. He is just going to read the same studies other people will do as I or anyone else will read

If you disagree, give me just one single example, one sentence will do, of information that he provided that no one else knew

Actual new construction on Trump's "Great Wall" is only three miles...the other 177 miles are only renovations.

    Forty years experience means nothing.
What can you learn in forty years? Nothing.
After the first day on the job it's impossible to learn anything new.
    Everybody know that.

Ok, but instead of carrying on like that, just answer the question

Can you provide even one sentence, one bit of information that Fauci said over the last 4 months that we couldn't have gotten anywhere else, that no one else was saying?

There have been about 1342 deaths from covid in Arizona more than twice as many as those killed in that state in the Vietnam War-622 even if you add the number of Arizonans that died in the Korean War 127 it still doesn’t come close. It is true that some 2,000 Arizonans died from the Spanish Flu but then we haven’t got to the end of the Covid infection yet.

And that was in a time when we didn’t know so much about what to do to stop contagion or the advances in medicine to keep deaths down.

You realize of course that just 3 miles of the wall is new, the other 213 miles of border wall is just a replacement.

Trump promised 500 miles of wall in Arizona and he promised that Mexico would pay for it. Instead it was the American people to the tune of 15 Billion dollars.

Mexico is having a bit of a time of it now. Anyone notice? How many of you can even name the Mexican President without googling?

India, anyone going to blame Modi for the now large number of cases that country has?

The media seems to have gone quiet on Sweden, that would be the country that never closed schools, never went into lockdown and has only just scraped past 5000 deaths

Really not sure what you mean?

Do you honestly think the medical profession in the free world on this subject are all working in secret and so not communicating together?

Have you ever played the board game Pandemic – it would be a good teaching tool for you to realise that there are many different levels involved in these things it not one solo Fauci doing everything.

    Its also a great game

Oh you also think I’m in charge of the UK and its response to the outbreak LOL

I have been and still am very critical of what happened in the UK and the incompetence and criminal negligence of the Cummings/Johnson led government

Yeah, they're so good at it that the Swedes are now attempting to leave in droves to escape the consequences of the virus !!!

Sweden overtakes UK with highest coronavirus death rate per capita -did they get it wrong?
SWEDEN has overtaken the UK, Italy and Belgium to record the highest coronavirus per capita death rate in the world.

Trump says coronavirus deaths in Sweden are ‘tremendous’

Sweden has recorded 6.08 deaths per million inhabitants, higher than the UK, USA and Italy. According to figures collated by the Our World in Data website - Sweden recorded the figures on a rolling seven-day average between May 13 and May 20. The figures will throw Sweden’s outlier coronavirus strategy into doubt. The country has been one of the only not to implement a strict lockdown.

According to the Our World In Data, the UK averaged 5.75 deaths a day per million people, Belgium averaged 4.6, France 3.49 and Italy 3.

Figures from the Statistics Office have shown that more Swedes died in April than any one month since 1993.

The pandemic has caused around 3,831 deaths in the Scandanavian country.

State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell, who has been leading the country's response dismissed the figures.

The Swedish response could now be questioned (Image: GETTY)
He said to the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper: "This is something we should look at when it's all over.

"It is of course terrible that we have such a higher death toll at our elderly care homes, and there are lessons to be learned for those who work in these institutions."

Many people who believe the lockdown implemented over countries in Europe has been too strict have looked to Sweden as an example of why restrictions should be eased.

The country has kept open schools, bars and restaurants and they have continued to allow gathering of up to 50 people.

Restaurants have not closed in Stockholm (Image: GETTY)
Sweden's neighbouring countries of Norway, Denmark and Finland have all seen far fewer deaths than Sweden.

Sweden's strategy has aimed to bring down the curve so its health system is not overwhelmed and also allow the economy to not be affected.

Frodo Forland, Norway's state epidemiologist, has said: "It feels like you want to support your own government and strategy.

More people have died in Sweden than its neighbouring countries (Image: GETTY )
"But Sweden is going against the whole world."

The Swedish Public Healthy Agency has said that almost half of the deaths seen in the country have been in the nation's care homes.

The agency believes that more than one in five people in Stockholm have developed antibodies to the virus.

Apparently, the President wants to do stimulus again, and Congress doesn't want him to. Trump, GOP clash over new round of checks

The stimulus checks are wildly popular and make paint a brighter picture for the President.

I feel like I'm in a tug of war, because I would like the check, but don't want President Trump to get reelected. :(

I think I would rather suffer through and have him fail, personally. But I know there are families who need those checks. For that reason alone, I think the GOP should hang it up and concede.

It's pretty telling, just from casual observation, that states where the residents scoffed at wearing masks, social distancing, sanitizing surfaces, etc., are now experiencing sharp rises - spikes - in corona virus case numbers. Even the governor of Texas - where only REAL men live and they eat bullets for breakfast - has told the Texas residents to STAY HOME now. The states that followed the advice of all those medical experts are seeing case numbers decline - hopefully they'll stay that way.

It's interesting to see that in this case of a global pandemic, which can kill, that people are willing to risk their lives and the lives of their families because they're "bored" with staying home, wearing masks, washing hands, and sanitizing surfaces. Doesn't say much at all for all the "toughies" out there who are only wannabe's. Staying home - except for food & medicine - wearing masks, sanitizing ……………………. ooooooooo - pretty tough tasks for all the "he-men" out there.

I've worked on big construction projects all my life and having to wear masks was normal. These whiney guys make me laugh that say wearing a mask makes you a wuss. I'll counter with, "I think it makes you look smart."
