But the government is NOT a business. The federal government is not set up with the goal of making a profit by slashing and burning necessary agencies. X DOES NOT = Y.

It's a direct contradiction in beliefs when a red state full of REPUBLICANS has a disaster and right away they want to know why FEMA isn't there to help them. "Where's FEMA??" becomes the chant. They want a federal declaration of a disaster so federal money gets released to help them and bail them out of their problems. This help from "big government" is exactly what they rail and rage against all the time. They tell everyone else to be "rugged individualists" like they are - but when push comes to shove - they want help too. You know why??? Because the avg. American - be they Republican, Democrat, Independent, Green party, or Libertarian - doesn't have millions stashed away to rebuild their lives, and "insurance companies" fight you every step of the way on claims to keep their profit margins up.

Look how the demands for clean-up and justice came from states that had industrial waste toxic pollution poison their drinking water supplies. But the REPUBLICAN PARTY is the one that slashes the budgets of / fires the employees of the very federal agencies charged with policing and enforcing the clean water and clean air acts.

You can't fire the police and expect the banks to not be robbed. (federal agencies gutted / criminal exploitation & pollution) for those who don't understand the comparison.

I wonder if all the REPUBLICANS in the U.S. who've lost their jobs because of the corona virus refuse unemployment checks from their "big government that's always on their backs" ????? (or maybe it actually HAS their backs) Or are they toughing it out like the "rugged individuals" they claim to be???????????????

Seems pretty contradictory and disingenuous to scream & rage about the big, bad, boogeyman government all the time and then stick your hand out behind your back for money when YOU suddenly become the one in need.

I'm holding out hope for a 2020 win. With Biden in the White House I feel like the country will rapidly find it's way back to normalcy; though I suspect there will be residual effects in the reporting of the media.

Trump asks whether he should be taking insulin despite not being diabetic



WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump pondered on Tuesday whether he should be taking insulin, a hormone typically prescribed to diabetics, during an announcement for a plan which would aim to drastically reduce the price of insulin for people on Medicare.

Asked later by a reporter why he would take insulin, Trump asked surgeon general Jerome Adams to answer, in which he explained to the president that, "Your body, Mr. President, actually makes insulin endogenously."

Oh they are taking the checks.

To a Republican they are entailed to help because they work and this is a special time. They don't come from a socialist like Bernie they come from an American who knows it's a hard time. Of course no one else works like them and the average person getting unemployment in normal times could work they simply don't. Time and time again I have seen they lack empathy. When it happens to them it matters but when it's someone else it's a scam. The big government and aid are fine as long as they don't feel the government would allow one to use any bathroom or restrict guns. Big government to them =social progress and democrats.

Another example would be the opiate crises. When a small town probably conservative white person gets addicted they are not at fault addiction is a disease. When it was black people and crack where no white people live it was "they need to have some self control and they need jail if they don't have it". You would be hard pressed to find a current Republican politician suggesting a 20 year prison term over rehab and support for one of his rural voters. Lot of brothers who got addicted in a cell right now because they were told they made the choice to use.

You know with you, I actually agree with you, somewhat. Especially when it comes to the executive branch. Executive orders should not be methods used to govern. It's ironic that the founding fathers were trying to design a government that was less of a monarchy. They, however, did not implement enough checks on the executive branch.
