For whatever reason, or reasons, Trump has been re-elected. That's the reality we're facing, and we must discuss how to deal with it.

Perhaps we should get into what the next 4 years might look like.

What measures will he actually try to enact as opposed to what you believe he promised but will forget about? And with what he tries to enact, what will the result be?

How much resistance will Trump face, both from other politicians and the general public?

Will Trump last all 4 years? And if J.D. Vance takes over, what would his presidency be like?

Will things not be as bad as we fear, or will they be as bad, or worse?

And what will you personally do in response?

I missed phrased that. I meant a love of violence, racism, and anarchy.

Yes they don't like "wokeness"which is nothing more than awareness of injustice.
They could care less about how anyone who doesn't look like them is treated.
And...I don't underestimate Christian nationalism, the Republicans want a Christian theocracy. Expect an assault on public schools as they are non religious.

The media coverage of this election was terrible.
Did you see the headlines in the leading national newspapers lamenting that a convicted felon and sexual predator has been elected president for the first time in U.S. history? Me neither.

And why do you say that Harris is bad?

as a person I don't pretend to know her, as a candidate, she could not differentiate herself form the current administration that the majority of American's do not agree with, she had already tried and lost the nomination before now normally point 2 should have been enough but trump was a loser in 2020 but came back to win so I guess thats a thing now
Then there is the forced labor controversy, the truancy program as well as others HOWEVER bear in mind that NONE of that compares to trump.
Harris was not and is not the 2nd coming and the resounding defeat speaks to that, trump won every single swing state and no the majority of the people are not xenophobic racists sorry.
to quote Carville "its the economy stupid"
    38 million people below poverty.
you stated in this or the other thread that joe six pack has enough, I say joe six pack is struggling , apparently the public aggress

Let's start with his threats to go after his political enemies. I believe he'll proceed with it, and while I don't think he'll have much or maybe even any success in prosecuting them, he will make their lives hell with the time and money they'll spend on their legal defense. Then even after they're acquitted, his followers will still oppose them, because in the MAGA mindset, if Trump says you're guilty, you're guilty.

After he's dealt with the prominent politicians, who will he go after next? Celebrities who spoke out against him? Journalists and podcasters who opposed him? Will he try to round up people at peaceful anti-Trump protests? And he's threatened to use the military in this effort, will the military support him? Where will it all end?

Great question and he may HOWEVER if he does, that may keep him from fulfilling all the wonderful promises he made and then HOPEFULLY people will wake up a little bit, if the economy does not improve significantly, I foresee him having issues

It's not the economy, that's just an excuse.

Let me cite a few examples.
    I know a person that is a multi...multi millionaire...multi, well over 10 million.
    Voted for Trump

One of my neighbors is situated in an upscale neighborhood on a 20 acre lot. They have three vehicles and just put on a deck that cost in excess of $50,000.
    Voted for Trump

Another neighbor has two racing go carts and a sprint car he races every other weekend with a huge trailer to transport it, a Ford F100 pickup, a mustang, and a fifth wheel motor home.
    Voted for Trump

I know another multimillionaire that hates "those niggers".
    Voted for Trump

    It's not the economy.

Im a red voter in very blue New Jersey. unfamiliar with Christian nationalists hereabout. Could they really be an impactful voter bloc?

Here in Republican Ocean County, NJ., home to retirement villages, the town of Lakewood, NJ has grown to over 100,000 residents. Most are conservative or orthodox. The growth in Lakewood has forced state politicos to recalibrate election calculations. The Palestinian wing of the Democratic Party probably influenced that vote.

CNN's exit polling found that the economy was the most important issue for 32% of voters and that those voters broke for Trump by an overwhelming margin of 80% to 19%.

Yes, well first of all that's what they said. My millionaire "friends" say the same thing. The $50,000 deck people are constantly complaining about high taxes, gas prices, and eggs.
Secondly, most people have no idea what shape the economy is in:
America’s economy is bigger and better than ever
The U.S. economy is growing solidly. Here's what's working — and what's not
Which just goes back to my contention that the public is ignorant, uninformed, and ready and willing to listen to propaganda and misinformation. They don't have the brains, desire, or impetus to actually look at facts.
That con man and his billionaire backer are much too entertaining.
Election officials are outmatched by Elon Musk’s misinformation machine

Well I know when I go to the store and a can of beans is near $3, and a pound of hamburger is $5 , rent is soaring and its very hard to find an a place thats not owned by a property management firm that want between $50-100 JUST TO APPLY,
I dont give a rats ass what the economist says , shits difficult out there, you just refuse to see it OR don't care. joe six pack certainly aint on the internet arguing the finer merits of why trump swept the country.. he is working 2 or three jobs tryin to keep his head above water

Since we're talking about the economy, let's talk about what will happen with that. Joe Biden has turned the economy around except for inflation, though he has slowed that down. Trump will be president when inflation levels off and take credit for it.

In the short run he'll make good on his promises not to tax tips, overtime and social security, making him look good in the eyes of working people. In the long run he'll make wealthy people wealthier at the expense of working people. When the economy slows down he'll blame it on something else, and by the time it crashes altogether he'll be stepping down. And if he hasn't done away with free elections altogether then we'll be electing another Democrat to clean up his mess.

That's assuming he'll last 4 years. We'll discuss that in the next post.

Will Trump last 4 years? There have already been a couple of assassination attempts on him, I don't think they'll stop after he's inaugurated. He also might die on his own, or be removed if his dementia gets much worse.

There are also some slim possibilities such as a revolution or a coup, the military might take offense at some things he orders them to do.

I give him a 50-50 chance of lasting all 4 years.
