In other words, we should go back to the Articles of Confederation? Not an appealing prospect, and one that's pretty much irrelevant right now!

Yes, those who elected Trump made their bed and now they must sleep in it. Problem is, the rest of us must sleep in that same bed!

There are many ways to "fight" that don't include violence. When I say revolution it is more of "a dramatic and wide-reaching change in the way something works or is organized or in people's ideas about it," rather than a forcible overthrow of the government. So no, not like Jan 6th.

You say the government isn't corrupt, that it's just the people in it that are but I've got news for you...the people make up the government! That's just the way it is. The system needs to change to prevent the sort of corruption that is running rampant. I think most people would agree that there should be term limits for senators and Congressmen and maybe limit their pay to the median income of the area they represent but guess who can make that sort of change? The very people those rules would stifle, there is no way they are going to chose to limit their own pay or potentially cut their political careers short. Let's not even get into trying to remove lobbyists from the equation, why would any of our representatives chose to eliminate such a lucrative perk of their job? Do you really think that most of the people that you could vote into those offices, would do anything different? Sure there might be a few good apples out there but most of them are rotten.

I couldn't even begin to tell you how we should go about changing things because it is all so fucked but it is clear to me that they have to change if this country is going to survive. All I can do is try to limit where I spend my money so I don't keep feeding the corporations that pull all the strings, grow as much food as I can, trade with neighbors, try to live more simply...and survive. That's how I am fighting.

If one more person says something along the lines of "this election was about gas and egg prices, not trans people" I'm going to fucking scream.

Got it. You sacrificed us for eggs. You sacrificed women's health to save a few bucks a gallon. You elected a man who said he'd declare himself dictator on day one to own the libs. You voted for a guy who's tariffs will increase the already expensive cost of goods. You voted for tyranny.

And you will own that vote now, tomorrow, and for fucking ever.

Got it so you dont want the truth, the average person simply does NOT care about the minority or minorities, especially when they can barely afford to eat.

it was not just a slim victory but an ENORMOUS rejection of the current path......

I want to see who is going to get the blame now that there are NO excuses,

The average person in the U.S. has more than enough to eat, they just want more, more, more.

I agree, they reject the current path of inclusion, helping others, empathy, and law and order.
They want a tyrant and a despot.
    Gimme gimme gimme.

Really, that's simply bullshit, that is the attitude that got trump elected, inflation rose prices dramatically, yes, they have come down a bit, around 12% of Americans are at or below fed poverty level which is absurd , they can literally barely eat, thats about 38 million people, now how many are slightly above that just barely getting by? a single event pushing them into homelessness or some such.

I know you are angry and your above post shows it.
yeah cheeto jesus sux but the attitude on display is part of the problem
The Dems basically tried to berate peeps into voting harris it failed
I dont pretend to have the answers but I do know that blaming and scorning ain't it

12% of the people didn't elect Trump.
The poverty rate in 1980, 1981, and 1990 was over 15%, in 2009 it was 15.1%, in 2013 it was 14.5%, in 2017 12.3%, etc.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor, the average U.S. annual salary in Q4 of 2023 was $59,384.2 This is up 5.4% from the same time period in 2022 when the average American was making $56,316 per year. 9
The poverty level in 2024 for a family of four in 2024 is $31,200. The average family income in the U.S. is at about twice the poverty level.

I did not say they did I was simply pointing out that a large number of people simply DO NOT have enough AND there is no metric for how many are just barely scraping by your they just want MOR MORE MORE is simply false.
Fact is you can be angry, you can HATE cheeto just like he hates everybody or you can figure out how to work with the cards dealt

I'm not angry that Trump was elected, saddened that the majority of Americans worship a con man yes, apprehensive about the next four years, yes.
But I have enough money to get by and at 73 I don't have to worry about the next decade much. I'll do fine.

What does upset me is the way many are now blaming the Democrats instead of those who voted for a felon.
Exactly what Trump wants, blame the Democrats for everything, have them fight among themselves about how dumb they are and how they "don't get the message".
Never point out that the message the voters like is very ugly.
Next time I guess the Democrats need to embrace everything Trump stands for...then we'll win as we'll "get the winning message."

One thing about the MAGA crowd, they're not people you want to disappoint. Trump had better do a damn good job as president since he doesn't want them turning on him!

And still more and more again.
First they get too fat and lazy to work, then to walk more than 50 yards, then too lazy to get out of bed, before finally they die.
Are they the perpetrators of all this, I think not. The food industry is promoting junk, filled with appetite enhancers. It includes trans fats and carbohydrates such as corn syrup.
People visiting the UK from the US crave for imported Coke and cannot understand why it (along with dozens of other soft drinks and sweets) are banned from import into the UK.
Corn syrup is not a poison, it is almost pure carbohydrate. The problem is that it does not taste very sweet. Used to sweeten a cup of tea would require 13 spoonfuls. This alone would be close to the daily carbohydrate RDA.

When we left the EU, Trump suggested a trade deal with the UK. His main offer was chlorinated chicken. This, along with several other suggested items were already banned in the UK.
Trump may be a goofy fool, but he is not an idiot. This must have made him stop and think.
Food experts and doctors from Europe are not made welcome in the US an if they visit, nothing they say will ever be published.

Were we talking about corruption. :D

Funny thing, Coke invented in the US now in order to get good Coke in the US you have to buy Mexican coke cause thats made with sugar NOT high fructose, I dont drink the stuff but find it rather amusing ... eating healthy in the US is hard , good food aint cheap and cheap food aint healthy,

Even if a real Gandhi quote ( never known on the internet) that is a bit nonsensical.

Gandhi succeeding is an exception and a result of a lot of circumstances in his favour. In most Gandhi-tyrant clashes the tyrant would win.

A lot of tyrants are very successful and live as such to their natural end, with their tyrannical systems outliving them for many years. From the first emperors to the likes of Stalin and Mao or truckloads of similar in various “shit countries” (and many living today possibly like Xi, but we can’t predict the future and therefore can reference only deceased ones).

Even those that get ousted often stay in power for way longer than any democratic leader can by the very virtue of the system, and have more influence by the very nature of both longer and more centralised power.

Sure, ultimately everything passes. Good or bad, ultimately the human race, Earth and the Sun will “pass”.

But comparing to non-tyrannical system I can’t see how are they any less survivable and more failable.

It is a feel good quote not very related to historical and political realities.

Funny, I remember as a kid we had Karo Syrup, which is pure corn syrup, and it tasted plenty sweet. 13 spoonfuls in a cup of tea? Bleah!

We fought Trump and Trump won. I have lost faith in Americans. Gullibility is a greater pandemic than Covid ever was. So, as the enemy within, will they be coming after us?
