Interest rates are close to zero in most parts of the world. It would make more sense to bring the money back and buy back their own stock to increase it's value. The CEOs end up making a fortune. Everyone else will experience the effects of inflation.

I agree with you, I just see another WIDER picture. They could use their office in another country to buy back their stock and make money without dealing with the US government. If you have an office in South Africa or Hong Kong you could work out of it. They have internet too.

Wow! I have never met anyone that knows 75% of ALL the roofers and their habits. Quite a feat.

I do. They all hang out at Waffle House and deal painkillers and meth with the night shift hash slingers. I've only met a few really good ones who took great pride in the craft. One from Conyers Georgia did a roof for me by himself in 1 day.

I had another roof done by a guy who had 3 "helpers" who leered at my wife and daughter over the 4 days it took them to finish the job. I was glad to see them go, but we had so much hail damage I couldn't wait, so I took what I could get. I also paid the whole job in cash, but I was on the roof myself every day watching the progress and inspecting the seals around vent pipes and the chimney. I've been burned by shoddy, strung out "handymen" before. Georgia has a substantial stock of them as does Florida.

The Trump tax plan will have no effect on these kinds of workers and they are far more common than people seem to think. I became part of the problem when I hired them, but there's little choice when your rafters are getting soaked and there's a puddle on the living room hardwood. When I was in Argentina I had a driver who was into all kinds of hustles. Their economic system was in disarray and everyone he knew had 2 or 3 games going outside of their regular job. And the government limited the overtime they were allowed to get, so they had plenty of time to barter and tap into the tourists here and there.

I see that in America, but I expect it will ramp up sharply after 2018 and then explode when the recession is finally declared in 2021, after the election. I'm making more wine, brandy and getting ready to start making beer as it will be necessary when I try to tackle Scotch!

Well, I will say that I've seen some real shit work on roofing over the years. In fact, I have some great pictures of shoddy work. Problem is, no licenses mean no recourse for fuck-ups, roofers know that 99% of customers are not going to go up on the roof to check the progress, lack thereof or shoddy workmanship being done. I worked for different roofing companies for years and saw some very good roofers that really cared about their work and the finished product. And of course many lazy, incompetent guys that didn't care because ---they didn't care--or were just passing through. I and my kids are top a' the line and not by accident. I have never been in the habit of either trying to fuck a customer or letting a fuck-up stand if one happens. I basically just happened to consider Mr Spiffs remark later and thought wait a minute---75%? So, this is about dick-heads BIG-TIME-TAX-PLAN-------time will tell on it, but preliminarily--the word is not good. Sorry for the sidetrack, but if one spends 8 hours sleeping, 8 hours recreating and 8 hours a day working---1/3 of a persons life is doing work--why would anyone want to do a crummy job in the activity of 1/3 of their lives. Conscience matters.

When you consider how many of us work for unconscionable employers, who seem to see us all as disposable cogs driving their cushy lifestyle, it's easy to have your pride in accomplished work efforts erode. The generation entering today's workforce will likely never see a pension, social security will probably be whittled down to a meager rent payment and their investments, like 401K and Roth IRA plans, will be looted to some degree by Wall Street every 11 to 17 years.

The generation after this current batch will probably see a very different concept of employment since so many aspects of daily work are being automated. Even lawyers, accountants and ditch diggers are being replaced by machines or machine thinking. The pace of this is dizzying and our employers and "leaders" alike are still stuck in 20th century thinking, which is why we still have daily commuter gridlock, something that should have gone away two decades ago with the advent of a reliable, standardized net medium.

Instead, the transition will be unpredictable and seriously painful for most of today's workers and a good many of the employers as well.

There is plenty of that going on in Indiana too, or at least a few years ago, doubt its changed much.
People up the road had a crew like that. Sometimes they would take the day off, lying under the shade tree of the boss's house smoking weed and drinking, on a hot 90 degree day.
And I know of other outfits that were like that too. Ex's ex worked for a group very similar.
Doesn't help either, that they don't make roof shingles with the thickness they once were. Cheap ass shit nowadays.
Trend is toward metal roofing now, and some of them don't know to put the nails in the proper part (they did this on my parent's home three years ago repairing tornado damage.
In a way I hope the Government starts regulating that trade, as much as I hate to say it. It's a matter of people getting around the system any way they can, they are running out of ways which attracts not-so-good workmanship and forces us to rely on Uncle Sam to regulate.

Why? Fiscal responsibility is a big part of conservative politics.

This is just further proof that Trump is about as Republican as Stalin.

It was my understanding that the Republicans in Congress wrote the tax bill, Trump signed it.

The Republicans have started running TV adds here in Indiana. The infomercials glorify the tax bill and Trump...saying each family will gain $2000 each year and 300000 news jobs will come their way. It's just the usual BS from the Repubs.

I dont knpw that there are many Republicans left in Congress who are conservative in ideology

From what I can tell most Republicans like to spend just as much as Democrats, they just prefer to do it in a way that benefits the rich rather than the poor

And they do it by cutting taxes all the time. All the money spent, none of it coming in. And they have actuly sold their voters on the idea that this is sustainable. You can have your cake and eat it too so let them eat cake. It's why Trump is praised for not paying an tax despite his income. It's why they will accept paying tax themselves. It's interesting to me they always put down Democratic Socialism because people are lazy and greedy so it will never work. Yet they believe in so called "trickle down economics" the idea that if we just let a few people in society make all the money without any obligation they will just decide to share. At least Socialism would have laws requiring the sharing they hope to receive.

Ironically, it's people who consider themselves conservative who keep voting them.

Liberal, conservative...these are team names these days, not ideologies

Republican doesn't mean conservative anymore, which is why I became a Libertarian. Something modern day Republicans don't seem to understand is that fiscal responsibility and low taxes are two separate things. If today's Republicans were really into fiscal responsibility their campaign slogans would be all about a balanced budget today (as opposed to in 4, 7, or 10 years.) Instead it's all about low taxes now without any mention of what it would take to actually avoid deficit spending. The American people seem to want a big government; fair enough. Let's make them pay for it...everyone. Corporations, the middle class, the wealthy and everyone in between should have a stake in this.

I've been Libertarian for years, well since Ron Paul ran in 2008 and 2012. And Rand in 2016.
But the Republicans covered the name with "Tea Party" Republican, which let other quasi-copycats in. Chris Christie had to be a nonstop persistent ass to Rand during the debates (somebody kick that pudgy fuck in the nads lol). Funny how Ron won the Republican Convention twice in a row, but election time they were forgotten.

Rumor has it that Ron won 6 or 7 states, but the polls closed early. Wtf...
I still think Rand has a chance in the future, despite a couple of TV news women taking a dump on him on national tv (Savannah Guthrie on the Today Show, and Dana Perino on the Five). Rude-asses...
We might see more legal MJ with him, his dad was for it too.
I like their idea of limited Government. I like most all of what they stand for.

Ron Paul's my man. God, we really could have used him. He was like Gary Johnson, but with a brain.

So all you have is to first act like you were not serious about your statement (even though it's a often read book and catchphrase among you people) then it's I did not really go to real college. Kind of proves my point. College is not real now? Lol you go on thinking that Mr. poorly educated. Sorry they tell us Global Warming is real and trickle down economics does not work. Facts my friend.

There is some truth to it. Colleges have become diploma mills for people who don't deserve it. One of my classmates was allowed to graduate with three F's on his report card.

So far the new tax bill is tanking the dollar. Investors must be anticipating some major inflation. Ron Paul just said that the U.S. right now is like the Soviet Union in 1989. Hate to be a Debbie Downer.
