Now, you see how easy i could do the same as you and project some bogus assertion on you how you can't deal with those people and so simply condemn them as such I'm talking about sensible right leaning people. They don't exist you say? Ridicilous. I hope we misunderstood eachother somewhere. I know there are not only sensible rightwing americans, but also even sensible Trump supporters. Most i took notice of acknowledge his flaws, they're simply pragmatic about their conservative viewpoints being defended.
Now that's funny, though very old fashioned. A classic non-apology framed as an apology. This is exactly what I have been talking about, antiquated tactics instead of a real discussion. And you lead with it, so the rest is just poison fruit.
Because the media is the enemedia. They lie to us all and about us all. The media thrives on violence, division and controversy. It makes for better ratings and distracts attention away from more important topics. When you have a bunch of so-called anti-fascist who are inspired by the media and their indoctrinators, going around threatening and assaulting people who have the “wrong” opinion and silence all discussion, we have a huge ironic problem. They want to create voluntary foot soldiers to carry out their message in a violent way. They don’t care if these people commit felonies; get arrested with life-destroying sentences, or commit murder. They are mere disposable pawns. I decided to vote Trump because the worst people in the media on the left and right have unified in their hatred for him. And to take a stand against cancel culture. So far I don’t regret it
No I'm sincerely sorry you think you are portraying the situation accurate. It's not ment to resemble an apology.
That really captures the early days of his presidency. Most of the weasel republicans have fallen in line because they want to be reelected and they know that most of their constituents don't hate Trump the way they do. For better or worse, they play the game.
Thanks for explaining i guess. But it doesn't really make sense to vote Trump because of this one matter, which 1) may be very damaging to your society indeed but seems not worth to be used like abortus is used as a decisive and most important factor, and 2) is not going to change by voting on him. So I really hope for you it wasn't the main and esp not only reason to jump on the Trump train...
There are "opinions" and then there are informed opinions. Merely stating opinions, as Once Burned, does may serve a therapeutic function for the person who holds them, but makes a genuine discussion difficult. Stating opinions backed by specious arguments, as VG and Shaman like to do, can be useful as illustrations of fallacious thinking if somebody challenges them. I think what Asmo is longing for is an exchange of informed opinion based on facts and reasoned argument. That may be expecting too much when it comes to Trumpsters.
They're out there, but not on here (and if there are some on here they don't discuss politics a lot apparently). Yes. And that I seem to focus on posters instead of content at times are attempts to explain how and why I think they are a big part of the reason its always going in circles, and people refuse to take others seriously, and every political convo ends up being just as polarized as Americans seem about national politics. Curiously enough to WritersPanics enjoyment who enjoys the trolling as he stated himself... Or does he expect such trolling to have no impact on those threads? Well, in theory if we had more reasonable right leaning debate partners (and some less easily triggered on the left perhaps ) it wouldn't have to be so indeed. And hey, these people named (and who's discussion style you summarized quite well imo) do pose reasonable and valid points and arguments at times (and even if neither at timesthen it still can be interesting to counter it)! Which is another reason (besides there being a lack of more reasonable/serious right leaning convo partners) they often enough still get a serious reaction.
Chris Cuomo called Trump "the Mr.Hyde of history. I think it's true, and explains his appeal to so many voters. Stevenson's Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, in Freudian terms, was about our secret desire to give the id (or in Jungian terminology, "the shadow")free reign--to break free of the inhibitions of the superego and allow our libidinous and anti-social impulses to rule us. Many of us apparently have that secret desire, and Trump makes us feel good about it. But at what a cost! The inhibitions of civility, decency and honor are what make civilization possible. Being without them for awhile may feel good, and even lead to temporary economic expansion as we cast regulations to the winds. In the long run, it never works.
Sounds like you are saying your standard and common standard are the same? In other words: I am right because I am right?
Nope, not saying anything about if im right or better than others or not. I'm not even saying im always keeping me to that common standard. You and ************ are reading that into it yourself. I made myself clear enough. The point i made is not about myself being better or right in any way. I guess you guys feel that because i criticized you and used you as an example you think its like that, but nope.
