Should I start a Non American American Politics thread? I feel like us non Americans are being segregated elsewhere as if we don't belong, like our opinions and values don't matter because we don't come from the same country. Americans wouldn't know anything about that would they? Oh snap.
He wants to implement (he's far from introducing things that were championed by our founding fathers...he's no more "introducing" universal basic income than Columbus "discovered" America) a human centered capitalist system where the starting line isn't zero by taxing billion dollar corporations who are getting rich off of publically funded infrastructure and paying zero in taxes. That's a lot different than give everyone welfare
So....universal welfare where no one uses the word "welfare" basically 'Universal basic income' that you get anyway if you dont work.......soooo different to welfare And magically funded by getting evil corporations to pay even more tax, which somehow also magically wont get those corporations to cut labor costs and thus affect jobs growth, in a time of ever increasing automation Never heard that before, he might just be the first politician to have come up with that idea
Its funded with a VAT tax. All this information is out there. You should really do the research before forming an opinion on a candidate. An uninformed opinion is usually just an incorrect assumption. As it is in this case. So no they're not going to cut an already automated labor force because they are paying more in taxes. They're going to continue to get rich while finally paying some taxes.
And whatever will we do when the billionaire class runs out of money, or when they move their businesses and assets offshore? The socialist solution is to tax the billionaires to fund their pie in the sky ideas. That or print more money.
These 91 companies paid no federal taxes in 2018 91 Fortune 500 companies paid 0 taxes in 2018. I dont know that I'm in favor of a UBI, but complaining that corporations might actually have to pay taxes in order to fund it just sounds ridiculous in light of the fact that probably every American in this thread paid more in taxes than Amazon last year.
The thing I don't understand about the Republicans is that, even if you don't think that Trump did anything wrong with the whole Ukraine thing, isn't it pretty clear-cut that he obstructed Congress? The guy ordered current and former staff to not appear before Congress when called, in order to stop them from providing evidence. Preventing a witness from testifying is textbook obstruction, is it not? You can be charged with obstruction even if you didnt commit the original crime(s) that you are accused of committing.
Me too, though I still do put my nose in and give my 2 cents on american politics every now and again
I as another non-American am not waiting for it. It may have to do with that I don't feel my posts in american politics threads aren't valued. And that you do not actually follow or care about politics. Which may have more to do with how your posts in a thread like this are valued, more than you not being American.
It would have been a lame thread anyway. It would have been filled with Americans correcting everything like a fantatec Wikipedia Page contributor. But at least Mel was able to teach me about impeachment in terms I could understand. I thought that was cool.
Naturally. Me too, and if Americans don't like it (which only seems a minority of them, and mainly depends on what we say, not where we come from) that's not my problem. Most Americans on here take critical thoughts from foreigners actually pretty well.
Wait you mean that impeachment doesn't mean a bunch of folks gather arround him and thow peaches at him until he screams I'M Peached (speled like this lion would offcourse(impeached))
