I just want to know, what if anything has President Trump done to help gays and other LGBTQ groups?

In case you don't know, during the 2016 election, Mr. Trump promised gay people he'd have their backs. He even waved the rainbow flag at one point.

What has he done? And could he be holding off for some future time to help them (LGBTQ's)?

Trump has done a lot to help gays by not actively challenging pro-gay legislature like many Republicans in congress wanted him to up his election.

Well, his justice department is now saying it's okay to fire people for being gay. So maybe just stopping doing things like that.

Facepalm. No that is not what they are saying at all.

One of the cases is a guy that syphoned off funds from his government employer, then tried to claim he was fired for being gay, then bypassed his states anti-discrimination laws because he knew that wouldnt work and tried to use the federal civil rights act, which still doesnt actually have a sexual orientation clause in title 7, the equal opportunity clause

No one is bloody trying to make it ok to fire LGBT, you have state laws that protect against that

All the brief is basically saying is it a state issue not a federal one. Even though yes I know how its being reported in the media, by a bunch of journos that didnt even read the bloody thing.

I will say that again, your federal civil rights act still has no provision for sexual orientation for equal opportunity. Thats what needs to be fixed ( amendments to it didnt pass under Obama either).

You're not wrong on that last point, but yes, reversing policy and making this a states issue is a defacto federal legalization of firing people for their sexual orientation.

You're arguing a school house rock technicality as an excuse for actual discriminatory policy being enforced with clear intent.

Correction, you have protections in 33 states.
    17 states offer no protection

Gays are finding it easy to lean on the crutch of discrimination every time they're on the receiving end of disciplinary action.

Of course minority pimps are only too happy to pick up the mantle without inquiry.

No dude, this isnt a Trump thing, this has been going on for decades. You had a brief last year on the same kind of thing headed by 16 states

And yes I'm fully aware of how its getting reported in the media. Even Time magazine runs it as Trump is trying to legalize lgbt workplace discrimination. Even more bizarely international news sites whose countries have a clause in their federal law are running it this way. Its another case of what the hell is going on in the media

Even my backward little country has a clause for sexual orientation in the one federal discrimination law for everyone.

This particular brief has to do with 3 particular cases. Now either they are the only current LGBT workplace discrimination cases in the whole country, or there is something dodgy about those three cases.

But regardless, you dont have a federal law with a clause banning discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, thats what you need to fix

Yeah but you know neither of them have anything to do with that
Trump has never been in New York politics and Pence advocates for conversion therapy so

Pence is obviously a big ol' closet case filled with self loathing though

    Ain't that the truth.
Pence reminds me of that Idaho congressmen, from a few years ago, who would sit in bathroom stalls, and tap is feet to acquire friends.

Watch out! Where I live, Chick Fil A and Hobby Lobby face each other across a parking lot, and it's said that people crossing between them have been instantly raptured, never to be seen again.
