You misquote me. It's not that I like him so much. Rather, it's that I hate establishment career politicians so much. I don't believe he's guilty of anything rising to the level of a crime. I DO, in fact, believe that a large number of those trying to go after him ARE guilty of crimes. Whether they'll answer for them now or later remains to be seen.

 

Is that because they're republican? You do realize that, while our Constitution never authorized political parties or factions, it DOES command our government to guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government?
Oh, do answer this one, as I really wonder why this is? Is it a resentment of the current iteration of the republican party, or the republican form of government?

None of them bailed on the dems. They laid down and spread their legs like a bunch of whores. I actually warned our general president and his highest reps that Clinton would screw us just like he did unions in the midwest to no avail. And yet they keep voting for these guys. Gotta' give it to the dems: They talk a good talk, and have a lot of folks hypnotized with their entitlements and programs, none of which are authorized by the Constitution, but that seems not to matter anymore to their followers. I think Tyrsonwood answered it as politely as he could, with admittedly some hyperbole. The Republicans (and you) have elected to office a world class scoundrel, philanderer and cheat whose love of dictators in general and Putin in particular should be a cause of concern to any thinking American. He has told over 10,000 lies since he took office, and is going strong. He has disparaged the FBI and U.S. intelligence agencies and relied instead on the gospel of Putin. And much worse, he abuses the powers of his office to subvert the rule of law and prevent normal exercise of congressional checks on his power. The spectacle in the Senate last week, of Republican Senators voting in lock step to back the proposition that he is above the law. should send a chill down the spine of any loyal American. If he wins another term, which looks very likely, I fear for the survival of our country as we know it.

I was referring to the Carter era when the shift began--not among union leaders but the rank and file blue collar workers. And along came Reagan. In 1980, only 48% of union households voted for Democrats--down from 62% in 1976, while 45% voted for Reagan. Reagan's policies hastened the demise of the unions, so that now they're a shadow of their former selves in terms of political influence.

This is absurd. Since the advent of civil service, govt employees have been held to a higher standard. There are a few rotten apples but they are prosecuted accordingly. Then we have Trumps political appointees-spitting in the face of acceptable standards including, amazingly the Hatch Act. It seems like there will need to be a special wing at Leavenworth or Marion to accommodate all the Trump people going to Prison. Note this was not true of Obama’s appointees. To borrow an old quote, they have no decency. Don’t lump the hardworking employees of the US Government with the scum that sits on the surface of the barrel. RR devastated the moral of the civil servants by pandering to the crotchety oligarchs and right wing pundits by blaming the thousands of civil servant s...your family, friends, and neighbors for a storms of the conservatives making.

i could have worded it better. i'm not talking about all government employees; a vast majority of them are decent people just trying to make a life for themselves, like the rest of us. all i was really saying was that it's not just the leaders of the republicans that are corrupt, but the leaders of both the republicans and the democrats. which, due to this asinine two party system, effectively make up the entire leadership of the US government.

 

The democrats seem to be just as bad as what Trump is.
