Trump will likely win again if the Democrats pick another lackluster neo liberal candidate and voter turn out is low

If they elect a candidate who can inspire some excitement in voters and voter turn out is high, he will lose

Trump supporters are loyal, I'll give them that, but their numbers aren't growing. He isnt attracting new people to him. Not that many people voted for him the first time around, he lost the popular vote and voter turn out overall wasn't particularly high

So I think if people vote who didn't vote last election, it will be people coming out to vote for his opponent, not for him .

    I didn't vote for him. I didn't vote R or D. I never thought he had a chance.

Having said that, I agree if the Dems can't come up with anyone decent, the Reps, and yes it could be Trump or Pence, would get more votes than they did last year.

All I need to see is how do I feel about where my country is, when it comes time to vote. Right now, I'd vote R, even though I dislike Trump.

Another hypothetical option would be if too much voters would go third party. Unlikely of course, with americans and their 2 party system. And seemingly unpreferable as well.. on the short term at least. Its my favored outcome. Let the Republicans with Trump paint a clearer example of destruction and pave the way for real progressive change, instead of making the Democrats feel comfortable again. Just to be clear: i acknowledge this is wishful thinking on my part.
But the amount of Americans considering third parties IS growing :)

But his base remains at below 40%, and he gets more disapprovals than approvals

Depends on who you poll. If its a CNN poll I can bet the people asked to participate. I remember the polls that said he had a 92% chance he would not be elected president. Have no idea where that one came from.

Yeah, he says terrible things about individuals. He's a bully, but at least he doesn't say bad things about millions of Americans he doesn't even know.

Trudeau hasn't made this mistake either as far as I know.

    Money Talks, Bullshit Walks

If the Duck's approval ratings prove anything,
Its that schizophrenia is never to be confused,
    With a thriving democracy.
Nor is voting for whichever clown screams the loudest.
The same idiots who voted for Bush and Obama,
    Voted for Donald Duck,
Because its still illegal to vote for Mickey Mouse in the state of Maryland.
Many of the people of Maryland commute to D.C. for work,
And know they probably won't be around in four years,
So they vote for whichever clown promises the lowest taxes.
The tax cut proposals became so patently absurd,
That people just started voting for Mickey instead.
If votes are all you want these days,
    Money talks, while bullshit walks.
All you have to do is wave money in the air,
Claim that you are not, a Washington insider,
And have a good looking woman under your arm,
But, it helps if you also try to stand out from the crowd.
Oprah, has a shitload of money, and knows how to wave it around.
Washington D.C. may have to relocate to Hollywood,
Or make it illegal to vote for celebrities.
Let's Make a Deal has become reality TV,
And Monty Hall is rolling over in his grave,
Waiting for Americans to pick the next booby prize.
Now, Yogi Berra really knew how to play to the game,
For what profit it a man if he gain the world,
    But loses his soul.
That's why Yogi was just smart enough to avoid politics.
Nobody ever lost money or their soul,
Underestimating the average intelligence of the American public.

Man, this Trump derangement syndrome is taking y’all by storm.

You can’t go to thread about a different country’s prime minister without spewing the exact same stuff you posted in other threads.

Might wanna see a doctor. :openmouth:

Socialized medicine is for commies, but we accept any and all gratuities, and prefer cash, money orders, and major credit cards.

You may be thinking of the Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation report which gave Hillary Clinton about a 90 percent chance of defeating Trump in the 2016 race. The polling ended on Sunday. That, of course, should be distinguished from a poll of what people think about Trump. It was a prediction of what would happen in the future--always a risky enterprise. The report noted that for Trump to win, he'd have to carry most of the following states, at the time close calls: Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. He did. A lot depended on turnout, which is hard to predict.
