I'm making this thread because I would like to know of more sic-fi movies to watch while tripping. I love sci-fi and can't help but think that the people that designed some of these movies had to have tripped a little. Altered States is an awesome movie! I can relate so much of that movie to things I have experienced tripping. More please
Altered States is the shit... I'm gonna start downloading some of these movies Oh yeah...the original Scanners is a good one
A Scanner Darkly is good.Based on a Phillip K.Dick novel which I have read.Phil Dick has inspired a whole slew of SF films. Butterfly Effect is also great.I related to the central character massively as I saw it on the psychiatric ward of mental asylum.Haven't been in those dives for over four years though. On the up. Inception also good.I have it on DVD.
They let people watch the Butterfly effect in the mental asylum? Seems like a curious choice Anyway, AceK. I also definately recommend Moon (2009): "Astronaut Sam Bell has a quintessentially personal encounter toward the end of his three-year stint on the Moon, where he, working alongside his computer, GERTY, sends back to Earth parcels of a resource that has helped diminish our planet's power problems." Don't read up too much on it before you watch it!! Just enjoy this movie.
The butterfly effect (not movie, haven't seen it yet) has always fascinated me. How some tiny action somewhere can alter the conditions enough to act as a seed for a major event. Looks like this thread is gonna provide me with quite a few trippy times
Although 40+ years old, Zardoz is a rather trippy movie; "The Gun is good, The Penis is evil." MirrorMask is another good one. First time I ever saw Sucker Punch was tripping on shrooms, talk about an emotional roller coaster! The Nines is good and bizarre. Waking Life Then one I always love with LSD; Who Framed Roger Rabbit.....good fun and laughs.
The 2002 remake of "Solaris" is good, but Andre Tarkovsky's original 1972 version, based on the novel by the polish SF writer Stanislaw Lem,is better.
Primer - but it's extremely cerebral. It's pretty much about how fucked up things would get if two friends discovered time travel. The movie goes in a linear fashion; but the characters don't necessarily. 12 Monkeys - most fun, awesome time travel thriller ever. Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt are both amazing in it. Cloud Atlas.
