I've been wanting a Ruger 10/22 and a few weeks ago I got a sale ad with one. So today I went to buy it, filling out the form they sent it off to the FBI thing and they said everything was good to go but when they went to do the final stuff I was put under a more extensive search No new gun for me today.
i assume the FBI saw that you have a hipforums account and determined that you couldn't be trusted with a firearm.
a stainless take down 1022 was my first gun first upgrade was a volquartsen hammer/sear ..second was modifying a hardwood stock to replace the synthetic one great little gun ...next time im going to get a heavy barrel with laminated stock also wish id picked up some extended mags for it...they outlawed all the +10 ones here last year

only time i ever had a gun was a .22 rifle my dad gave me when i was about 16 or so. i think he later gave me a 20 gauge shotgun too. when i left home to go into the air force i left them behind, if they hadn't already been left behind before then. i can think of no practical use for having one, except as a hobby if they're something you like to make or something. i mean if you live out in the woods somewhere you can shoot up empty beer cans or traffic signs or something, but if you live in a city or suburb, you can't ever very safely or responsibly do that. i guess there are places you can go, galleries or ranges or whatever they call them, where you can try to see how good you can get at hitting targets. but the idea of owning a gun preventing tyranny is a fantasy. the world don't work that way. unless its like a lot of people agreeing something is a tyranny and not wanting it, but then you have a lot of people getting seriously killed, but i guess if that's what people want, i still think it would be logical to have to pass the same kind of little test like to get a license to drive a car, you know, to prove safety consciousness and responsibility. but i do agree everyone should have a perfect right, and not a bad left either, to posses whatever they can make or grow themselves. but also, if a majority of people agree, to not let some things be sold or mass produced.
good thing it was vagas and not reno. i live in reno. i remember the song too of course. and the little town of folsum california. which is actually kind of a cool little town. even if it was best known for being the location of a major prison. but it was also the location of the first hydro-power dam that lighted sacramento.

no but it's been a few years since I've bought one. I figured it had to do with all the semi-auto problem in Vegas. You never know, maybe it's like the sales guy said it happens randomly to customers. We'll see, he was going to call when I cleared.
canadian tire did a nationwide pull of all sks rifles here ... no reason given...but it happened right after las vegas we suspect a semi auto centerfire ban is in the works
