Be glad that it's trendy to be a hippie. It wasn't long ago that the trend was buzz cuts, camoflage and SUVs. Besides, inside every trendy hippie there's a real hippie just one trip away. Be nice to the trendy hippies for at least they have a clue and in the world of the trendy hippies it's easier for the real hippies to survive.
I think I saw the worst movie ever last night, and it was called "Hippies". It was an independent film.It is a recently released movie, and is the perfect example of trend hippies. It was hard to say if the writer/director was serious about his depiction of hippies, or poking fun at them. Some people really can't tell the difference, and think hippies are like those in the movie. The four "stars" of the movie were on route to Preservation Week in Eugene Oregon, and were traveling in a Volkswagen bus, and were all decked out in all the usual hippie flare. Tye dye, guatamalan clothes, t-shirts with marijuana decals, beads, long hair, and their van had flowers, peace signs, love, and also a FU COP. They were smoking constantly, clouds of smoke swirling around their heads, coughing, drinking hard liquor, popping pills. They staggered around, practically falling down, and during their week trying to preserve something, they managed to botch every project, killed some fish they were trying to save, and instead got in trouble with the police on several occasions, including several episodes of violence where police beat on them, black people beat on them for racial slurs, and they beat on each other. They stole things, were rude, and looked very messy, dirty, and pathetic. One guy, who was suppose to be the nature lover, wandered around in a trance in the forest holding up his stained underpants the whole time, and hugging trees and ranting and raving. What were they thinking ? I was offended, it wasn't even funny for either hippies or non-hippies. It is where real "peace and love" hippies get a bad name, these characters were definitely "trend Hippies".
hell, thats what became of all of them. i love the spirit of the hippie era, but the movement died because of its people ruining their lives with drugs and resorting to a way of life that was the complete opposite of what they wanted... there was a great george harrison quote i once read about how haight asbury really was as opposed to its peaceful hippie external image... i wish i knew it off hand, cant find it on google..
Theres a bunch of trendy hippies around my town. I dont really care all that much... besides the fact that theyre giving people who really believe in everything hippies believe a bad name. Like Ive talked to most of the trendy hippies in my school... and theyre not even nice. Everyone thinks theyre all about peace and love and here they go making fun of everyone, and being all rude and mean to people. Not cool. I dont like it either, but you just cant let it affect you. For a second it pissed me off, cuz they started dressing like me and acting like me, and I didnt want people thinking I was trying to go along with the trend, but it really doesnt matter. Anybody who knows me for me knows that Im not a fake person. And its not about how you dress and all that good stuff. Its about how you live. Hell, I could dress in all black one day, all preppy the next, and go naked the next, but that doesnt make me any less of who I am.
I'm with A.B.E. screw realism in hippie movies but im gonna see this flick itll be research for my film glorifying hippies. i think i've heard bad things about this one already.http://imdb.com/title/tt1059194/synopsis
I'm such a true hippie I'm going to exterminate random groups of people because of race or sexual orientation and still be hip while doing it.
