Trayvon

Driving While Black is well known. Now I guess Walking While Black can be added to the list of serious shit those pesky black folks keep committing.

 

In Dorchester - a suburb of Boston - people get killed and beaten every single day. The news never talks about them.

More importantly, the news never talks about the young kids playing outside and catching stray bullet because of someone else's fight which ends up killing them.

About a year or so ago, there was a drive-by in Dorchester and one of the bullets killed a 4 year old black girl on her porch. The driver (white man) actually intended to shoot the next house over.

This happens all over the country every day. Its not a matter of race or prejudice anymore. I understand why the media is making a big deal out of it, however, I think this story is minor compared to some of the other "racist" deaths out there.

So if I see you walking down the street and I suspect that you just broke into my neighbors house, so I follow you down the street and ask you about it......that's harassment??

Btw I'm talking generally here, I know nothing about this particular case as this thread is the first I've heard about it.

I think the case was simply mishandled from the start. Zimmerman should have been arrested and charged and evidence should have been collected.

If he was protected under the stand your ground law, that could have been proven in court.

 

I think i know why all the celebrities are on this bandwagon with the hoodie thing. The hoodie is probably what killed the kid. i mean, you have to be mindful of your appearance, whether it will make people suspicious of you for any reason. for instance, just the other day i was going to a book store to study with a classmate. i thought about whether i would look suspicious taking a book bag into a store. shit... as a stranger walking around in a neighborhood with a hoodie.. yes you will draw attention.

 

This is not necessarily true. A good friend of mine was at home with his 2 kids one day, and a group of 5 broke into his house. They tackled my friend, held him down and was beating him. His 17 year old son came out of his room and saw this happening, and had time to grab a nearby knife before he was tackled. He stabbed the guy that was on top of him 8 times before they stopped hitting him. My friends son was arrested for attempted murder, although it was later dropped to assault with a deadly weapon.

Not only did they break into my friends house, but the attacker was 19 and my friends son was 17......and none of the 5 who broke in were ever charged with anything.

The right/wrong lawyer can make anything happen.

 

That's upside down. And fucked up.

 

That's messed up!!

But it's how the story is told in court.

With this kid from what I've read I've got no opinion but I do know how the US media is and this will be on every show from east to west coast and portraying both sides here as victim's and bad guys dragging up families past histories and everything.

There is no fair trial in this case, the trial is being played out in the media.

 

Scenario one:"Hey,what're you guys doin' out there kickin at my door"?

"Whuddia think--we're breakin' in and we got guns and knives"!

"But I've got kids and a wife in here"!

"Don't mean shit-we're comin' in"!

"Dammit.OK. Let's put the guns down,honey.We don't want to go to jail". --who knows what happens next.

Scenario two:5 People bangin' on MY door.

Silence.
Still bangin'.
Silence.

Door busts open==BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM. 5 down. Next. Fuck the cops.

Protection of those you love is the way of the world.

 

How the fuck is it racially motivated?? You're just repeating what a corporation told you, as are approximately 80% of the people who responded to this thread thus far. All emotion and no logic. Sad. Where is people's critical thinking? I doubt many of you jumping on my case have even followed the story, and it's evident based on some of what I am reading in here.

 

How do you know he "confronted" him? There is no evidence of that. There is only evidence he was following him. More than likely, Trayvon saw he was being watched/followed, turned around and attacked Zimmerman. Of course nobody will know for certain until more details emerge.

I don't think, "attack" would be very high on my list of options.

 

How did Trayvon know he had a gun, or even who he was? It's not like he was wearing a uniform.

And besides, Trayvon was taller and more athletic than Zimmerman.

Gullible morons believe Trayon looked like the 13 yr. old kid the media keeps showing. The kid is 17 years old and over six feet tall. It's not that hard to believe that he would have been able to jump Zimmerman. Clearly that is what happened. I am not saying Zimmerman did not provoke anything, but clearly Trayvon was the aggressor in terms of a physical confrontation. All credible evidence and eyewitness accounts heard so far would clearly indicate this, which is likely why Zimmerman has not been arrested.

And sorry, but I don't believe for a second that Trayvon was just some innocent kid wearing a hoodie out buying Skittles and iced tea. Fuck that! The kid was a PUNK up to no good, which doesn't mean he deserved to be shot, but it doesn't exactly make him innocent, either, as the media would have you believe.

Also, I find it appalling this kid's mother is now looking to trademark her son's name. It's all about making a buck. Absolutely disgusting.

 

Zimmerman had 50 lbs on Trayvon dude, sorry but that alone doesn't add up. There is a reason why any and all fighting sports go by weight and not height and athleticism. Your argument fails here PR, though I do agree more facts need to come out before make conclusion or either side. I see you're in Zimmermans camp just as passionately as the Trayvon supporters, so please practice what you preach on this subject.

I am not on Zimmerman's "side" -- I don't take sides. It's just that the evidence SO FAR shows that he was in fact acting out of self-defense. At the very least, there is no evidence WHATSOEVER that this had ANYTHING at all to do with race.

 

Could you please link a source? I've heard conflict accounts on both sides, so you must be getting the hard evidence. So far it has seemed you've been making excuses for Zimmerman.
