The Day of Remembrance (Nov 20th) is always a sad day, thinking about how our people are targeted for murder just for being who they are. It was even sadder this year, waking up to learn that a nightclub was targeted specifically because of TDoR. At least one trans person was among those killed, and many people were injured. I want to say something profound, but words fail me. Haters are going to hate. You can't exterminate them all without becoming part of the problem. So you have to exterminate hatred itself. I am happy that it was patrons of Club Q that disarmed and arrested the attacker. They could have summarily executed him on the spot and no one would have objected, but they didn't. That is what we need: stop the hatred without succumbing to it ourselves.
These haters keep getting cues from major politicians that it's justifiable to hate minority groups. Things will continue to be bad as long as a major political party keeps sending out coded hate messages to their base. It's so important to stay positive about love, vote these manipulative politicians out of office, and consistently prosecute those who commit violent acts.
Heard a joke today that perhaps the shooter went to Club Q thinking it was a gathering place for QAnon members like himself and was furious after he learned the truth. Insensitive? I don't know, it is a shot at QAnon.
Colorado Springs shooting brings even greater sense of devastation so close to Trans Day of Remembrance I lit a candle. I support you all xxx
I love that guy, Beau - watch a lot of his videos. It is disgusting to think about this Republican party that is so full of hate - for what reason? It is beyond me.
The thing that blows my mind and continues on an almost daily basis is that we literally have no time to recover from an incident like this before the next one is reported... I am sick and angry this morning to see another shooting occurred overnight in Virginia. The same thing happened a year ago in Buffalo... soon after, there was another mass shooting... and I am sorry to say, I don't remember where. We are becoming desensitized to it. Almost daily we hear of another. I won't even get into the politics of it or the sickness that must be breeding in our society for these things to happen. We are sickened by it because of this one, in Colorado, it strikes close to home due to the patrons of Club Q. I still enjoy going out to a "safe place" to a bar that is known as a gay bar, and another newer place that is knows to be a queer place. The thing about both of these places is - they welcome anyone there who is respectful and wants to enjoy the atmosphere created there. And we feel violated when such as place is shot up by some madman. I have not forgotten Orlando yet. I still wear a little pin to remember those who were killed at the Pulse club. One man was interviewed from Colorado Springs - he was shot in the leg. He was asked if he will ever go back to Club Q. He said he will. He will not allow these things to prevent him. "They will not win" We cannot let them win!
