Toys From Leah Toy Drive to benefit kids on the Pine Ridge Rez

Hey everybody---there is a Toy drive going on to benefit the kids in Manderson, South Dakota, in the Wounded Knee School District on the Pine Ridge Reservation. It is on Saturday, December 14th.

It is called TOYS FROM LEAH.

It is in Denver, Colorado, but if you are not anywhere near there, but would still like to participate, you can donate through paypal, which I will explain shortly.


Nataleah Faith Garduno (Leah) was a young member of the Oglala Lakota Tribe. She passed away on August 7, 2013 at 4 years old. In her honor the Garduno and Plenty Wolf families are holding a toy drive for the kids of Manderson. This toy drive is being sponsored by, The White Horse Creek Council, a nonprofit 501(c) organization dedicated to protecting and promoting Native spirtual and cultural traditions.


These kids live in one of the most poverty stricken regions of North America. In the winter, many of these kids show up to school with no gloves, or coats, or even shoes, and this is despite the fact that South Dakota winters are fierce, often with a good amount of snow. The conditions in Pine Ridge are worse than many third world countries.

The Toy Drive will be at the Four Winds Church on the corner of 5th & Bannock, in downtown Denver, this Saturday, December 14th, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
