1. Dark Side Of The Moon (1973) 2. Animals (1977) 3. Wish You Were Here (1975) Pink Floyd has a lot of depressing music but the most dark and depressing abum by them and probably the most dark, depressing sorrowful album of all time is The Wall, however musically it is not as good as the 3 I listed but it is still a very good album.
Yes, I like Atom Heart Mother, i forgot about that album, yes, it think it may be in the top 3, should listen to it more.
Interesting list. The wall would rank pretty low on my list...seeing as how there are only a couple decents songs. 1. Animals 2. Dark Side of the Moon 3. Ummagumma (only because it was an interesting time period for them).
I don't see how anyone could prefer the classic rock radio/stadium stuff. Syd Barrett was Pink Floyd.
What is going on here? The answer is 1 Wish You Were Here The other 2 can be anything but I think we should all agree Wish You Were Here is the best. 2 Dark Side of the Moon, the Pulse version, I like it better than the studio 3 Meddle
I dont understand the whole cult following of syd.... I think he is a bit overworshipped, almost as bad as jim morrison. he was good, dont get me wrong...... but damn, if syd stayed in the band, I really have doubts that pink floyd would have actually put out any good material after that.... once dave entered the picture, I think their sound changed for the better. dont get me wrong, piper is one of my fave albums, but I still think their best period was 69-77
except that Syd actually wrote amazing songs.. there's been noone else like him, and there never will be. whereas jim on the other hand was a crappy shy american mick jagger wannabe.. as were many during the time. syd was unique.
syd barrett is too mainstream to worship these days. 1. piper at the gates of dawn 2. saucerful of secrets 3. atom heart mother
