Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences with an experiment I did. For one month, I stopped using store bought toothpaste. Instead I would only brush with water twice a day, floss at least once a day, rinse with salt and water in the morning, and once a week I would brush with a mixture of 75% Baking soda and 25% salt. I also did oil pulling once or twice a week. I noticed my teeth felt really clean, and my gums seemed to feel good as well. And I really wasn't feeling my teeth which I guess is a good thing because you only feel them when something is wrong. The experiment ended and I started using to store bought toothpaste again. What i'm noticing is in the morning right when I wake up my mouth always feels dry and a bit gross and I did't get this during the experiment. Also I was eating ice cream the other day and I really couldn't eat it because my teeth where being so sensitive to the cold. I ate ice cream during the 1 month experiment, and I don't remember having any problems or noticing anything. Could it be that that store brought toothpaste make your teeth more sensitive? I told my dentist about this and he just gave me a weird look and said to always use toothpaste. I cant say I trust what the dentist says to much at this point... I'm really considering trying the experiment again, anyone else do something similar or notice similar results? Peace
I've brushed with toothpaste twice a day or more for my entire life and only have one small filling in my mouth from a decade ago. Toothpaste works well.
Most brands of toothpaste have sodium laurel sulfate in it, which I don't even use in my hair. I realized this somewhat recently and was horrified I had been using it in my mouth.
I tried Tom's, tastes bad. I use water and a fairly hard thorough scrubbing, and tooth paste with whitener now and then but never before bed. Yes I get bad morning mouth if I use tooth paste at night. I also believe tooth past can mess with the enamel if used twice a day, thinning it down. Never brush (with or with out tooth paste) right after citrus, it does similar damage because the enamel is soft for about a half hour.
sort of like the look i'm giving you right now? use the toothpaste, for fuck's sake. it's not a poison. and, no, by the way, i have not had any of the issues you bring out. i can eat ice cream and brush my teeth with toothpaste.
