Tool is not mainstream... Have you seen one Tool video on a music channel in the past three years? I haven't and I've looked.

Tool is my favorite band. They're great. I saw them in concert the day after my birthday last year and it was the best concert I've ever been to.

I am aware what midpace is. I just laughed because you decided to describe those bands as midpace. SO what? Its better than any junk Megadeth can make out.

when it comes to the intelligent humans we couldent have asked for a better band than tool, their live show is unlike any other, their songs have deep meaning to them, and are often left up to the listener to interpret. some people are turned away by the length of some songs and dont take the time to actually listen to the whole album, all i have to say to them is BE PATIENT,good things will come. And they may just blow your mind.

I saw tool 7/3/07 and this guy was freaking out cause he was on too much acid and i felt sorry for him not only because of the personal hell he was in but that he was missing the best show i have ever seen. like you said it would have been way to much to handle on strong acid. lateralus was definately the highlight but stinkfist and 46 and 2 kicked ass as well. they didnt play Aenima which was a bummer but rosetta stoned was fuckin awesome. If there is anyone out there who likes tool but hasnt seen them live you should really go (well if they tour some more). has anyone heard of a new album in the works? may have just been a rumor.

You cant just claim success is selling out tool has been doing their own thing for almost 20 years now and no 2 albumbs are the same.thats just because bands evolve. and for the videos adam jones has done a fantastic job on every one of them. what about metallica selling out with their black album huh, who are you to critisize tool or rage!!!!!! reply if you want to argue about it some more.....

I think with the time they take to make albums they should be a little better. I mean 5 albums and 1 EP in the 17 years or so they've been together isn't exactly prolific. And, yes, no 2 albums are the same, but 10,000 Days sure sounds an awful lot like their previous shit. BTW not looking to argue just commenting.

None of the three things I listed are required for success.

Just because Metallica sold out, doesn't mean that tool and rage haven't as well, by the way.

Judging by your imposed logic, I definitely am not concerned by an argument.

Word. Putting the bitching and moaning I do about them aside, I'm still a fan and they will always hold a special place in my heart. Just please, Tool, make it better than 10,000 Days.

Haha, you're eager to hear their next album? I'd think anyone who listens to Tool will say that, but its gonna be at least 2 more years before anything comes out about it. I thought 10,000 Days kicked some serious ass so, I am not complaining. I know Tool won't let me down, HA, thats a larf.

Tool is just a band that you can only reallly love or really hate... I am one person who really loves them and feel bad for these who don't because they don't know what they are missing ^^ And although that 10000 Days is a good album i must say that Aenima is way better ^^ Can anybody tell me how to do that sign of A and E together like the album title?

hey hey. chill. lol maynard has like 4 other bands to play with, but i agree it wont be until another 2-3 years til their new album. they create and write their own music and lyrics. its not like they're some pop band where they pay writers to write their songs..

you know what really urges me when people say this about tool.. "all their music and albums are the same" that just makes my head bang on a wall.
no it isnt and thats what they are, they're known to have weird tricked out music with the religion of buddhism in their videos. and they say they should change their style of music! no! its useless for tool to change, i mean why change when your original got you this far?

its like britney spears becoming a metal head.....

wow, anyone who says Tool's albums are relatively the same either has a crayon shoved in their brain and their ass or they lied and they've never listened to tool before.

If anything, Tool's music has evolved after each album, Opiate being heavy and in your face. Undertow giving way to more emphasis on the sound structure aswell as structure when it comes to deep meanings. Ænima being the first real album dedicated to psychedelics and understanding of the world today. Lateralus being the world beyond this world, somewhat on a higher plain of reality. And 10,000 days seems to me like undertow, with its darkness of the human soul.

To me, Tool's CDs are like the species of man. Opiate being primitive humans back when jesus was alive. Undertow is somewhat a bunch of morals and ethics that have been shown and repeated throughout history. Ænima is showing the depths of the human psyche and its realease from reality into the psychedelic world. Laterlus is the psychedelic experience and 10,000 days is the prolouge to the end.

Of course, these are my opinions and even I am not sure yet what exactly the evolution of albums by tool result in showing us a deeper level of our unconscious.

Tool is TRIPPING music, look at all their albums, Opiate with the gaping lotus, Undertow with Flood and Sober, Ænima with third eye, Lateralus with...well, all the songs on Lateralus are either about tripping or meant to be listened to while tripping. and 10,000 days with the pot and rosetta stoned.

Even when they first started out their music has been wildly inspirated by psychedelics aswell as the inner most places within the human psyche.

Come on now, Tool, we are all tools of our universe.

amen, thats EXACTLY whatI was going to say, explaining the different meaning To each album but i got tired of them bitching about it. its like if they were THAT bad, they wouldnt have had the top selling album of the year or wouldnt even be popular, so people must like their style of music
