And anyways, I didn't mean to single you out or anything, I was just giving that girl some sort of example of what I mean by "worshiping" a band. I like Tool, but I know people who actually listen to them all the time. Like all the fucking time. Its annoying, because there are all kinds of good music out there.

Hahaha its funny how you freaked out about me "altering" what you said when I didn't. Let me say this again, go to page 4 of this thread. Why wouldnt you check to see if you actually said that first?

anyone who says TOOL isn't the greatest band on the planet is a fucking dumbass and obviously hasn't heard that one song, you know the one where the drums are kind of tribal, and the guitar is really unimpressive and the bass is thumpy and monotonous, and then Maynard starts talking about how the pieces fit. that song changed my life.

Ha, thanks, I like how you are a freak, just to tell you I am not that fat now. You guys need to be a little less idiotic and a little more intelligible.

    Good lord man.

Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Celtic Frost, Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Slayer, Testament ... I could probably name a hundred bands in the world.

To each their own, I know.

Sure, so could I. We could both just start listing bands but the ones you listed above don't even come close to how musically talented tool is. Megadeth? hahaha
    Thats funny

Music is not a competition people. It's not as simple as who is the most talented. It's about how much you dig their sound. Which most of the time gives more clarity about the person who likes that sound then which is the greatest band, I in my opinion.

I was about to edit my post but since you already replyed I'll say this:

"Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Celtic Frost, Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Slayer, Testament "

Most of the bands above share no similarity to Tool. Sure, the band has roots in most of them. But the overall product of the sound is pretty much not available. Tool, is the best rock and roll band. Tool should not be classified as metal

Neither should Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

    lol, yeah
One of my friends and myself got into a pretty big arguement about if Led Zeppelin is metal. Hell no, classic rock. Sure, Tool as well as many other bands came to be after growing up on the band. But the band itself is not what genre it would soon create.

They played in Halifax, Nova Scotia two nights in a row, without rob zombie. Your example is now flawed.

Sure, he's sold out, but so has nearly every other big "name" thats been around this long.

Musically talented?! Sorry man, they're garbage. Their aggression at it's highest point is that of a balding man, driving a VW while listening to his ipod, while their slower attempts are in direct competition with the Sandman himself. Not to worry though, since most of their songs seem to sit at a midpaced drag with the vocalist yelling oddly like the guy in staind.

I think it's funny that you picked Megadeth over Slayer to question. Kerry king can't write guitar solos to save his life, whereas both guitarists in Megadeth are quite decent soloists but the riffs they come out with completely own tools regardless. haha

All right, mr. metallideth, guess you just can't comprihend what I'm trying to get through to you. You can not compare Tool to Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Celtic Frost, Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Slayer, Testament. All those bands are either metal or classic rock. Tool, is a post-rock band. I really couldn't care less for Megadeth's riffs for they lack the depth and intensity within Tool's complex music theory. Anyone can play music, but it takes post-rock bands such as Tool, Isis, Rosetta, Mouth of The Architect that take those rules and bend the shit out of them making very unique music. You can keep listenning to your bland, repetitive Megadeth and I'll keep laughing at your ignorance, aswell as your picture.

    Also:
"Their aggression at it's highest point is that of a balding man, driving a VW while listening to his ipod, while their slower attempts are in direct competition with the Sandman himself. Not to worry though, since most of their songs seem to sit at a midpaced drag with the vocalist yelling oddly like the guy in staind. "

I guess your just a metalhead. It has to be heavy or you just can't enjoy it. Or maybe you just are trying to be somewhat cooler then other people by saying you don't like Tool? I personally don't understand your reasoning but I don't really care. Fools will be fools. Just glad that I understand how much better something is than you.

(Yes! I've reeled another one in.)

    Bahahahaha.

Tools music is far from complex. Your ears, and musical knowledge betray you greatly. Trust me, they're bending no rules, and judging by the mass of songs that Tool has produced that could be packed together into one big nugget of a song, not all that unique either.

"Tool is a post rock band". Yes, you said Tool was the "greatest band" not the "greatest post rock band formed in XXXX who all wear jeans and are born on the same month to mothers who's names all start with S". I think we're backpedalling quite a bit by narrowing it into genres. Not that I think any band should really be compared to one another, a comment as foolish as "greatest band ever" begs for it.
