I ejaculate prematurely and struggle to get a hard-on. It's exacerbated when I've drank the night before and I am a smoker but I noticed that after going 3 days without smoking and drinking it was still an issue. I told my doctor about the issue (really fun conversation, not awkward at all.) Had to push to have my testosterone levels checked and they came back fine although it was more on the lower end of the spectrum. He never ended up prescribing me anything for it. Seems like my only hope is to quit smoking for good and hope that it just takes a lot longer to see the positive effects of quitting. Working out a lot to get my cardio up and improve my circulation I guess. I'm starting to wonder if I have damaged or clogged blood vessels in my penis or something. Also, I really don't understand the premature ejaculation... It's still a problem without taking any medications. It's been a problem since I was like 26. It seems like I have thin skin... I'm circumcised and you can see a lot of my blue veins... that probably causes extra sensitivity right? The only thing that helped was when I did a cycle of steroids like a decade ago - I had the biggest, full erections of my life, lasted a lot longer and shot the most intense, high volume loads. That's why I was thinking it was a hormone imbalance but looking at all my past blood work, the only thing substantially low is my TSH levels... Which I believe indicates an overactive thyroid. I don't think a doctor is going to give me Viagra at 34 years old... I'd rather address the root of the problem but I'm not sure what the problem is. I do drink a lot of sugar... could that be a factor? Any advice?
Smoking cigarettes, lots of sugar. Not a good recipe for healthy erections. Exercise will help a lot, and getting the nicotine (and thousands of other chemical compounds from cigarettes) out of your system will be a big help. In America a doctor would never tell you to do something about your lifestyle. They are only trained to prescribe drugs or tests and then refer you to a specialist for further testing, and more bills.
I believe the thyroid could have something to do with it. The dr should be able to prescribe you something to get your thyroid in check. Also did your dr happen to check your cholesterol? High cholesterol might be the problem with your erections.
Without a doubt, I would see a urologist. Or I would fine a clinic that specializes in male health and sex issues. Don’t stop until you find the quality of life you would expect for your age. Don’t expect to be in your twenties. There is help out there. The best thing you are doing is stop smoking and limit alcohol. Weight control is a huge plus. I’m 67 and for my wife and I, everything is in moderation. We have sex. 2-3 times weekly. Get professional help. You deserve it. Pm message me if you want to chat about it.
Scientific references for this? Testosterone is made from cholesterol. An all too common story is a man starts taking statins, loses his sex life and gets it back when he stops taking them.
I JUST turned 40, but noticed the same issues you were having right around when I was the same age as you. However i'm a nonsmoker. I'm pretty healthy, excercise regularly. Convo with my PCP went about the same. He chalked it up to stress. It got in the way of several relationships. Now I'm married and decided to go back. He tried saying the same thing but prescribed some sort of viagra. I had to push for a testosterone check. Like you, came back normal but on the lower side. By word of mouth, I was told about a place called Affinity health. I spoke with someone there at length about what was going on, my health, all kinds of things. Literally was on the phone for 45 minutes. After that they decided I was a canidate to have my bloodwork checked. They said they would either send a phlibotomist right to my house, or I could go to a local place to have my bloodwork done. After it came back, they said i was actually quite low. Evidently the bloodwork my PCP had done didnt paint the whole picture. I got set up with a perscription for injectible testosterone and a couple other medications to suppliment healthy testosterone supplimentation. Its pricey, and not covered under my insurance unfortunately. However i have to tell you to me, its well worth the cost.
I take Arganine and Glutamine (4000mg daily) for workout recovery... Ive unfortunately never noticed any sexual performance enhancements from it. But I do think I've read that was a bonus of it
I take L-Arginine (Good for maintaining blood vessel health) as well as Zinc every day. I have done this for years. I am 67 and still no problem with ED. Sex is 2-3 times weekly.
A important aspect abut ED is to find out what caused it if you can . That is a batter way than just popping pills and placing chemicals into your system. I had ED several years ago and found out that it as being over weight that had caused it. Lost the weight and changed my diet and lost the ED.
For me, it was a variety of factors. Diet for sure and being overweight. Diabetes was a huge factor and what was worse was the meds for the diabetes. Age is something we can't really do much except to compensate for. Losing weight helped a lot and it also helped build confidence. I tried injections and they did wonders but it's not convenient. Effective for sure and not that hard to do. But most of it was solved by eating better, losing weight, drinking less (which also helped with the weight) and being honest with my doc and my partners. If I told my FWB that she's just going to have to work on me longer, that wasn't a problem. She took it to mean that she got worked on longer too. No issues with that! I still inject once in a while if I have to and it helps so much that I can easily plan a really fun night with absolutely no worries about how I'm going to perform. That confidence is huge.
