As of September 2012 my head was completely buzzed to a 5 scale on a buzzer. This is my hair now.. I think it's still way too short to start dreading, as I don't like those short 2" spikes. What do you think? And if not when do you think my hair will be long enough again? I miss my dreads! :'(

XD I love your hair. Anyways you could always go the natural route as of now and stop combing and just separate til your happy with the sections. That will also allow time for your hair to grow as natural dreads take longer to mature than backcomb or twist and rip.

I used to shave the sides of my head all the time and it has been maybe about 2 months. I only have an inch of hair growth. And that was down to the skin. So it all depends on how fast your hair grows.

I might say a year until you would get your desired length but once again I am not positive as people's hair grow at different rates.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll have to go natural for a while... even if that means a temporary afro :afro: for a minute. I just looks so crazy when I don't wash, comb, put styling products in now. When I started my old dreads my hair has long enough that I didn't have to deal with that... I would guess my hair to have as a whole grown six as a whole onle inches in the past seven months from nearly bald.. :(

Haha, afros are cool. You can wash your hair just use non residue forming shampoo. Just because you are going the natural route doesn't mean you can't wash your hair it just means you don't comb it. You could always wait a year until you get the desired length. I actually just watched this video of a girl who grew her hair out for 10 years from nearly bald. You might want to check it out, I think it is a great reference to people who are growing their hair out and want to know how long it will take to grow a certain length.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NT_iSvhG40"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NT_iSvhG40

Actually Glen, her hair growth is fairly average. On her video description it says her hair growth is half an inch per month.

My Problem Is My Hair Is Very Fine And As I Discovered

4 Years Ago When I Started Dreading, 50% Of My Growth

Is Consumed By The Dreading Process...:(.

I Have Seen Many Progress Pics On Here Of Peeps With Very Coarse

Hair And Their Hair Actually Gets Longer As It Locks Up.

For The First 3 Years All My Hair Did Was Get Shorter, And I Have Read

Of Peeps That Lost 75% Of Their Length Whilst Locking...:).

    Cheers Glen.

I think I could try and grow 4' in two months I don't have a measuring tape lmao and I'm horrible at guessing so I really don't even know how long my hair is at all now, plus curly makes it look shorter than it really is.. I think that should almost be enough. The video was cool, I actually know an elderly woman who's hair is even loner is even longer! :O
