Not true. The word "mask" is misused. Depression and forms of psychosis are CHEMICAL IMBALANCES, and in many cases, these drugs put the chemicals back working where they belong. Antidepressants, anti mania drugs and even antipsychotics do NOT "mask" symptoms, they often treat (although don't always cure, as many of these illnesses are chronic) the CAUSES of illnesses which were once thought to be "psychiatric" but are now know to be as physical as a broken leg. Many many people are helped by these drugs along with good, research based therapy. Hubbard has tried to badmouth psychiatry for decades to get people to join his "church" and get him richer (his fiction sure didn't do that, ug.)
They don't bother to make themselves available to the masses, the first religion to try to appeal to only the Upper Classes. Wouldn't that alone make you a little uncomfortable? It does me.
There is no such thing as a chemichal imbalance. No such thing. Psychiatrich drugs release substances into your body that inhibit your mental state in a certain way so that you can cope in the world with your mental problems. However when these chemichals are no longer being released into the body the problem emerges again. No negative mental conditions can be fixed by popping a pill I'm afraid. At least not yet. You need deep therapy and lot's of it to get over your problem.
Well he died in 1986, but his followers have been. Like I mentioned earlier, they want you to join up and confess everything you've done wrong to their counselors...then they've got all the dirt on you really. I do believe anti-depressants are way overprescribed, especially to kids and teens though. but not because quote: .R. Hubbard was taking a psychopharmaceutical drug when he died. According to Scientology® "scripture," evil space aliens control and manipulate Earth's psychiatrists via mental telepathy, and "psych drugs" are used by these space aliens to control and enslave humanity. Thats as outrageous as some of the Christian idiocy I read around here
And why do you think are pharmaceutical companies and psychiatrists promoting chemicals? Did you know that the 10 biggest pharmaceutical companies in the States have a higher turnaround than the other 490 of the biggest 500 companies in the States all together?? Put's things a bit into perspective doesn't it.....
OK This doesn't interest me enough to read 5 pages to see if this was already posted. http://drtomcruisemd.blogspot.com/ Classic funneh...
