In all seriousness, I feel bad for those that are so bitter and opinionated that they can't see other people for who they really are. You can't tell a book by the cover. Give people a chance. You might be pleasantly surprised.
i tolerate someone else believing whatever they see fit. i don't tolerate being told to hate logic. because it doesn't take rocket science (if i can do it) to observe the hatred of logic being the cause of human (and other living things) suffering. nor the promoting of the desire to be feared, which is the real root of evil. and robbing someone of thinking their own thoughts by demanding their attention, is no different then robbing their car or their stereo. there's a very mixed bag of things i tolerate, most things, as long as they don't forcefully attempt to disrupt my or anyone's objective perspective and considerate and imaginative life. consideration is really the bottom line here, because the absence of that is tyranny, and even a heaven without it, is just another name for hell. not that those need to be actual places, but rather, they are what any place can be experienced as, depending upon the conditions people create by how they live in them. and because nothing owes anything to what people tell each other, nothing owes anything to what i have to say either. that's just the universe we live in, and if any of us don't like that, or think its too chaotic, well that's kind of too bad, because its going to go right on doing its own thing in its own way, and there's nothing i could do to stop that, anymore then anyone else. you can call it god or you can call it a bowl of chicken soup, or a committee of a.i.'s in a distributed computing system that pre-dates the big bang, or any of an infinity of possibilities else. the good thing about anything we say on here, is we can observe or ignore, whatever it might be, as we see fit. and like a cat, i'm totally cool with being entirely ignored, or usually am anyway. and not that i lack feelings, its just that i recognize we live in a universe that owes nothing to them. but you know, i can certainly protest the harm that is cause, when people take a myopic and even narcissistic perspective. and there would certainly be a lot less harm caused in this world if more people were to discipline themselves to not do so. (all this knowing of course, that i am by no means immune to doing so myself)
You remind me that a healthy perception of others not only broadens our own social horizon but it also protects our own immune system. That is ignorance. Ignorance results in the weakness to one's social horizon by limiting their popularity. This unnecessary stress blocks the secretion of hormones. I honestly believe these to be the ever evasive sexual hormones that have mysteriously become not so natural in recent years. One can't get in the mood if one is too used to inventing unnecessary rules and excuses. That is respect. Respect results in the strength to one's social horizon by unlimiting their popularity. This will reverse the blockage to any hormones.
I tolerate the Mormons knocking on my door, they are always SO good looking, unlike the old dodders selling The Watch Tower.
I tolerate MP's knocking on my door, they are always SO good looking, unlike the old dodders sitting in Parliament.
If somebody even finds my front door they are either totally lost, or oblivious to the no trespassing signs.
I find that the vast majority of people who complain about intolerance are intolerant and narrow minded themselves. I express my differences of opinion, but unless the person is supporting something like terrorism, I never hold it against them personally.
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww it is a good thing that this thread is titled Tolerance and not Intolerance.
Although a trespasser is someone who enters you property with a criminal intent, remind me not to expect a cup of tea if I am ever in your neck of the woods.
And they are relentless. I HD to tell one of them....what part of the word NO don't you understand. Get the fuck off my porch.
Always set up some kind of cctv cameras out the front of your place just in case somebody who does this. The cops will love arresting a criminal that enters your property.
It is not quite the same in London where most houses adjoin although we live on a corner plot. Although he would not be bothered, most criminals would take one look at our dog (a rottweiler) and run for the hills. We would not need to call the cops either, our daughter is a London police officer.
