    Christmas tree from Nova Scotia is on headed to Boston

    The Tree for Boston is the province’s annual thank you to Boston for sending medical personnel and supplies to Nova Scotia within hours of the Halifax Explosion of 1917

    The explosion devastated Halifax, killed nearly 2,000 people, and left thousands more injured and homeless.

    Thank you hotwater for today's weather report, and the history lesson!

    My grandfather was a newspaper reporter at that time in Boston. He then became an early radio pioneer, helped start WBZ in Boston, had the first on-air comedy act aired regularly over radio. 'Mr and Mrs' featured a couple who sat around arguing with each other over daily trivia. I have some of the skits recorded on 78 rpm one-sided vinyl disks. Weird stuff, but funny.

    Today's weather report is from Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park, USA. I have spent much time in the park and created an audio tour for driving around the park. We had great fun in Yellowstone.

    I just find it fascinating that after all these years Halifax has not waivered for an instant in sending the city of Boston a free Christmas tree each year.

    As for WBZ Radio, sadly isn’t what it used to be now that it’s been taken over by iHeart radio. Several long time WBZ radio personalities were fired by the media giant
    to cut costs.

    12 degrees where my home is and I am wearing a t-shirt. However, I am the person who wears t-shirt outside.

    The only person brave enough to show he's a real man?

    I think so. I know people who will jump into a frozen lake for fun after sitting in a sauna that is 50 degrees centigrade or hotter.

    Is the weather report from the town of Hot Springs, Mt? Flathead Cty Mt rather than
    Mammoth Hot Springs at the entrance to Yellowstone.

    I think it was for the Mammoth Hot Springs itself... there is the Park Headquarters there with a weather station, library (where my tour of Yellowstone is archived) and housing for the park employees.

    Not to be confused with the town of Gardiner which is the park's north entrance, or Hot Springs Montana.
