Well, original AR-15's are of a small cal. in comparison with most and for the .223 being considered to be a varmint load in hunting circles, so there goes that out the window. As for the rest of what you've said, it's not much of a legal definition, so that's not going to fly by a first day law student, in fact.
That analysis of such won't stand a chance in going up against the NRA's legal team, just for one example.
Using the original AR 15 for evidence, is like saying a model T Ford only went 35mph. The original was made to be cheap to manufacture and practically indestructible, like a model T Ford. It was enormously popular, because the third world is rather large.
Well, that does say something, even though it covers a lot of territory if only one of three statements would qualify it as an assault weapon. As for select fire, the only ones I know of that are legal and much like the AR-15 and it's clones the selection is only for safety on and semi-auto. And all semi-auto rifles have this in some form and is usually just for safety on or off, do they not? If all three must be present, then why bother, since now we're back to it just looking mean again and for many others out there, that are capable of operating in the same manner. And this includes some of the so called hunting rifles. One thing is for sure and for the banned list becoming so long, by most anti-gun activists, that the only legal thing left would be for bolt action rifles with a fixed capacity magazine of sorts with about a 28" barrel and for handguns only being of the double action revolver type. With all the rest that are already out there, prices on the black market will skyrocket and only criminals will be buying and for mostly stealing them as a result. And by the way, the Brady Bill was another story, that would be much more complicated in today's world and much like I've already explained. On another note, I find it interesting, that with the assassination attempt on Donald Trump's life, if the shooter had been using a bolt action heavy caliber hunting rifle with a scope, instead of an AR type, so called assault rifle, the outcome would most likely have been a lot different and for he, Trump, no longer being with us today!
Well of course it does and for being a high velocity round as well, but the human body is pretty fragile in comparison to other large mammals. And hopefully you wouldn't hunt elk, bear or even white tail with that round, unless you're one hell of a shot for the head or heart and without fail for this poor unfortunate animal, before being brought to the dinner table. Just saying that it's not the super powerful cartridge that people have been led to believe it is. I mean it's not like a .300 magnum, a 30.06 or a .270, etc. ...etc..,ya know and I could go on and on that are like a cannon ball by comparison to the.223. You're still talking 22 caliber here, for chrissy sakes! Makes for a pretty good long range ground hog caliber though, but not for using it in a AR-15 style rifle. Now you're being silly and for trying to look like Rambo while in the woods.. Now, I did know a real enthusiast that used an AK clone, wore camouflage and for living in a cave during deer season....lol
Select fire weapons are legal if they are properly registered. The safety position is not a select fire position. But you know this. Assault rifles were designed for assault. The three requirements of an assault weapon are select fire, an intermediate-rifle cartridge, and a detachable magazine. A Browning Automatic Rifle has a select fire option and a detachable magazine but fires a 30.06 cartridge. It is not an assault rifle. It was designed for "walking fire", but used as a light machine gun. It is a heavy weapon used mainly for suppression fire, not assault. It is one example of not having all three but is still highly regulated. Excellent idea. There is no reason for a hunter, target shooter, or a weapon for home protection to be an assault weapon. In fact I have two target weapons, one holds one round, the other is a .22 pump. I have owned a few automatic handguns, (and don't start with the it's a semi auto handgun as they had the words "automatic" stamped on the frames to differentiate them from revolvers), but they only held a few rounds. One was 6 I think the other was 9. In PA semi auto weapons are illegal for hunting deer, bear, turkey, or elk. The only reason to own a semi pistol or rifle in PA is to kill people. Semiautomatic center fire shotguns that fire single-projectile ammo may be used to hunt deer, bear, and elk , but are limited to three rounds in the magazine and chamber combined. Good. Criminals don't shoot first graders in mass attacks. And as the criminals are caught and the guns removed from the public, the danger will cease. Just like it did in the 1920s. Yeah, some people are pretty stupid. The kid was swept up in the AR 15 glorification.
You've made some really good points here and for at least having an excellent knowledge of firearms, whereas most anti-gun activists are drastically uneducated. This is why I asked for a definition of an assault rifle, in the first place. As I've already said, you will need a lot of legal ammunition before going up against the big boys. I will say this about the so called auto handguns and do like a .380 hammer-less, double action, no safety for it's size and weight in a CC situation, but for gun control at it's strictest, I'm thinking that an after market large capacity magazine could be made to work and so for the why of only revolvers. I said double action because fanning the hammer on a single action like a wild cowboy, makes for a six shot full automatic weapon. Having said all this, I really like revolvers a lot more and mainly for their dependability.
Georgia school shooter believed to be boy, 14: At least 4 dead, more injured at Apalachee High School
Forget that he's just a boy an since he's already going to be tried as an adult, he needs to be dealt with accordingly and to the full extent of the law. Forget blaming politics and organizations for these unspeakable crimes. He's the one who did this and was solely responsible for his actions, so no excuses!..............
Oh gosh before I even read it I have to get ready for "motive is unknown" when they know damn well what the kid was tripping about and they will never ever tell us if the kid was full of psychiatric drugs known to cause suicidal thinking and psychotic rage. I'm going to use ctrl+f to look for the word motive just to get it over with before I even read the whole thing. They never tell us what drives these kids to do this crap. They know the story they just won't tell us. Okay here I go clicking now.
Of course don't name him so you people can make up what ever story you want wile scrubbing the internet of all traces so the public will never know what his problem was.
Thats it. I guess they got 100s of emergency vehicles parked hap hazard as possible with the motors running and emergency lights flashing and endless people standing around not doing anything for the next few days. My question is will Kamala cackle and laugh or have that stupid smile when she uses this for politics? You know the democrats running the campaign are happy this happened right before the debate.
Notice the segue to Kamala Harris? Notice how all of a sudden the Democrats are dancing in the aisle because innocent people were killed, in a school, with another AR style weapon? Notice how he used this tragedy to further his political agenda?
This was the 385th mass shooting in the US this year, with more than 11,500 killed by gunshots, and we still have four months to go to the end of the year. Gun Violence Archive.
