What's happening? "11,513. That’s how many people have died so far this year from all gun-related events in the U.S., including homicides, unintentional fire and suicides. Another 8,799 people have been injured in gun-related events this year." - Forbes No place seems safe as you can see from this map: It is difficult to get a grasp of the exact number of these mass casualty events as they happen so fast, and in every corner of the country it is almost impossible to keep track. I do report that there was a string of senseless shootings this last weekend culminating in the bank shooting in Louisville, KY on Monday. The Gun Violence Archive is a good place to start if you want statistics... They have charts diagrams and other facts.
Interesting caption, whilst sad and unnecessary events. I'm surprised that the density of dots doesn't seem, to me, to relate to population density so there must be some other measure that would explain the locations of these incidents. Yes, I know, there's a significant blank area (That's where I'd like to escape to, with an open-minded, free-thinking and intimately-thinking woman), but I'd have imagined that NY or other major cities would've shown a higher density of dots.
Actually, it aligns quite well, here is a map that shows the population density of the US, the brighter the light the more people in that area. The eastern half of the country has a lot more cities and sprawling suburbs but with plenty of rural areas in between. The western half has a lot more open space with much less people, there are only a few major cities out that way but where they are, you will find more red dots. You also have to realize that New York City is a tiny speck on the map that is completely covered in red dots but the overall State of New York is fairly rural.
I didn't explain myself very well. Yes, I see the correlation with the big cities. The surprising thing for me was the number of incidents in less densely populated areas. There seems to be many of those. Good job I'm not a statistician.
As long as I keep reading news of machete attacks, road ragers with bats and crazy fks running around and straight up biting people my .45 stays right where it is...
If this map were drawn on the basis if per capita gun violence it would look very different. Great…wonder why this issue is not resolved….
There are. It's against the law to shoot people for no reason - and robbing, raping or just generally terrorizing them is not a reason. Then again, Democrats are totally willing to forgive these crimes just as long as it's their voters who do them.
No, not a moron. Here is a link to an archive of gun violence articles from both left and right. We can all wonder why the issue is not resolved. The Archive is from Real Clear Politics. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/search/?q=Gun+violence# Thank you Zen for this thread.
