you have to drive a fair bit out of the city/suburbs to get to the snakes here. they are bountiful up the coast though.

 

I live right at the point where the suburbs meet the country. We have lots of winding gullys and creeks and recreation parks around. Even if you don't see them you can hear them slithering through the grass. If you go to the right places you can see a fair few kangaroos and wallabies in the wild too. They're like cows or sheep in some places.
