It was important to have iraq as our "friend" during the cold war..once the cold war ended he ceased to be of any importance..especially when he attacked kuwait and had control of tremendous amounts of oil. Being British means that we are very fortunate to have opportunities that people in other parts of the World will never have ... if that makes us exclusive then we have a responsibility to appreciate what we have here. It is not perfect here and there is much that could improve, but we are not suffering like so many other peoples are. To be part of the human race is a blessing which comes with great responsibility.
