I don't know, but I'm really sick of my mom bitching about how skinny I am. She doesn't bitch to my sister about how she could stand to lose a few pounds (which she really could), only to me because my ribs and other bones are clearly visible and all that. It's especially fucking annoying because I like how I look and I'm happy with my weight, and I can think of no adverse health effects to being my size.

If you're naturally that weight, then she is in the wrong about bitching to you, but if you haven't always been that weight and if you purposely restrain your diet in order to achieve the look, bony ribs and all, then i could see why she would be concerned.

I am constantly accused of having an eating disorder... despite the fact that I am completely healthy and my job consists of hiking up mountains all day long and I've always been really physically active, which I think would be hard to do if I am starving myself.

People 100% think that it is acceptable to insult someone because they are thin.

People notice that I'm slim but usually don't say anything about an eating disorder. I'm active in climbing, swimming, hiking, kayaking, and other things.

Many of the people I know are sedentary, so they probably wouldn't feel all that great accusing someone else of having an eating problem when they have problems just getting off the sofa. :)

I have toned, healthy physique. I play a lot of sports so my weight can drop if I don't eat right, so being hugely skinny is no excuse, you can eat more. I don't care if I am insulting anyone, I know this because I fight a fast metabolism AND my own training.

I didn't mean to insult there though, I just feel the same about skinnier and fatter people- everybody can achieve their optimum weight if they really tried too.

of course some slip through without us skinnies killing them but for the most part fat people die earliar..its kind of a well known fact that one drawback of being obese is early death....

sorry tips if i hit a nerve but have you ever seen on the news when they show someone that is 100 years old...they are never fat

I don't care whether someone is under/ over weight - I just won't make rude and offensive comments to or about them, because you don't always know the reasons behind it. The thread was about comments being made when someone is underweight - yet immediately people come in with fat jokes.

I don't like things like that when it's race, size, height, gender, sexuality - whatever.

I worked with people with eating disorders - both big and small and what people might think is a silly joke, can actually do a lot of harm.

And, I was actually only saying that I have seen plenty of bigger older people in care homes.

Sometimes shame (the truth) can be used as an effective tool (cattle prod) to help motivate (egg on) others (the grossly overweight) to change (modify) their behavior (depravity)

I think that people are taking this to a place it doesn't need to go.

I think the OPs point was that people can freely make it known theat they are concerned about you being too skinny, but skinny people can't go up to a fat person and say "i'm concerned about your rolls"

i dont think i made light of obese people just because i am a proponent of ''skinnyism''....i get the cracks to.....''he must be on coke''....''you should eat more''....''you are all skin and bones''

this is a forum and joking and not being ''pc'' is part of the fun...otherwise i and many others wouldnt waist our time so lighten up.....and ALL these points fall within the OP subject

i've been told several times by some people that im very skinny. honestly i don't look skinny at all. i'd consider myself cut.

i've heard this about other people as well. are we skinny because we watch our diet and take care of ourselves? most of these people who say we are skinny are over weight and lazy anyways. ironic.
