Yeah i would never do those $10 places, i take my son to one of those because i refuse to pay $30 for a 5 minute boys hair cut (even traditional barbers charge like 20 or above these days!) And every single time they leave these long strands of hair behind his ears that I have to trim when I get home.i think next time i'm just going to invest in electric clippers and do his hair myself

Living in Europe was nice, you'd leave a few coins as appreciation. The wait staff gets full pay and benefits, unlike in the USA where we make wait staff subsist on tips. Sometimes they are great, mostly subsistence level for Americans.

Biggest tip I ever gave was $100 for a big table full of people at a party. Should have given more as that waiter worked his ass off pleasing the crowd.

I am more of the 20% type of tipper than just a few coins.

There are cheaper salons here, but I only get my hair cut once a year generally so i'm willing to pay extra for a really good cut. I used to go to a higher end salon that charged $65 a cut but then I found my current salon that has the same high end vibe for a slightly lower price.

I know what you mean...when I was your age, once a year would be the most I'd get my "cut"....and then it would usually be a trim. I kept long long hair until I got to be what I consider way too old to keep that mess up.

Of course I know there are lots and lots of people that disagree with me...but for myself...I am NOT going to have this long ass hair (mine is very very thick and I am the type that could "pull it off") but to me, it just looks like somebody old trying to act young or some such. I occasionally see these models with their LONG gray hair, and that is just fine for them. I think it looks ridiculous but that is just me. lol I've been trying to get a cut every 3 to 4 months...

i honestly don't remember. all of the times i've worked in food service i've worked in the dish room or in the kitchen.
other then that, i've never worked where tipping is customary.

there may have been one or two times someone has paid me as some kind of personal appreciation thing,
but i don't remember any of the amounts, and i don't recall them ever being particularly large.

i just got a haircut yesterday, and for the first time in as long as i can remember, i didn't have to fix it when i got home.

i tipped her $5 instead of the $4 i usually give for a haircut.

    20%!!!!???!!?!?!?!?!????!!!?!!??????

Actually really all depends on the service and that's where tipping is good because if I delegate a shotty tip and they get upset then that's their worth. See, I won't tip people for a lousy job. You gotta be upbeat, nice and willing. I don't want no waiter coming up to me like they just filled out an application for a job they don't want to work...

    I've given no tips.
I've given hundred dollar tips. Mind you they're cute and sometimes a twin in there. :D like those twins in Roanoke VA. Whoop whoop. I don't even know if what she told me was true, but i like, helped pay he rent for a month I know that much. It was great service though. :)

And then other places they don't get you your drinks and won't serve you. They get nothing.

I received a $70 tip as a rickshaw bike driver when I took my passengers through a neon light by cycle parade we happened to stumble upon. The riders had crazy decorated bikes, freaky costumes, and cyclists carrying boom boxes as we rode the streets with them, crashing the party.

Food is more important in losing weight than exercise is.

Many years ago I was driving a cab as a 2nd job. I picked up a rich old lady at the airport at a terminal for small privately owned aircraft and took her to this skyscraper made of high priced condos. She told me I'd get a nice tip if I took her luggage up the elevator to her place. The fare was $12, I figured I'd get $20. After dropping off her luggage she handed me a $50 bill and said, "Have a nice day!" I did.

I once tipped a taxi driver 20 dollars.

I don't know if this is related, but since that happened I've gotten at least two free cab rides.
