Well. As you get closer to the other person, the half way point changes with the motion. So it's only like that as long as you two stay completley still. When you move forward, the middle point moves with you, redifining itself. So it;s not infinite midpoints, it's only as many as the two halfs as you move closer, while they are redefined
read the ender books by orson scott card if you haven't. he's got some really cool thoughts on all of this.
Oh missed this thread ... Well, i could say this mutch.... Without thought your day at work could be as long as it liked and wouldn't bother you.
does man... lay off the tuna. yer breath wreaks well this is a very interesting thing to think about. i never though of time as something that you can control but i have thought about how when i'm very anxious for something to happen at 9 pm my day drags on and on and on... but while my day is draggin on... i think of how to someone else... the day is going at normal speeds... when minutes feel like they have an extra 20 seconds attatched to them... maybe that 20 seconds is taken off someone elses minute... someone who feels like their day is FLYING BY... maybe there is really a CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME... but it's divided out un evenly amongst us sometimes... ya i know strange topic... thanks for the thought... now i won't get any sleep for 3 nights *kush*
Individual mind frame can manipulate time and like with all things in existence its a mater of observer and hes/hers choice of recognition or rejection. Just like u guys said when having fun time fly bys why because u forget time = reject it. And when u sleep, dream time distortion is even greater hours of sleep can feel like minutes and minutes of sleep can feel like hours I don't know about u guys but for me its proof time is just an idea nothing ells. And if time is real there is past present and future instead of the illusion of them except present reality well would that mean that time travel is possible and that would require single separate universe for every second sins time began and that all our faits have already been written in the future universes that stretch till time ends ?
in the new testement somewhere - it mentions that in the end times time will speed up for the elites. Sounds nice
i can't read this thread anymore, and maybe this has already been said but TIME is a relative unit of measure. that's all it is. it means nothing in fact except a unit of measure to set reference to any given moment in life, past, present or future. To say time would not exist without humans is only partially correct. Time would not exist as we know it but would to some other reference. We humans set our reference to the day. However the day on other planets are different. To say time doesn't exist is to say days don't exist ... it's all a matter of science. BLAME THE SCIENTISTS !!!
Mankind's concept of Time and the use of Time as a measuring device for duration of existance and/or distance, may cause Time to exist in His/Her world however; it's My belief that Linear Time is only thing that is holding us all back from experiancing that limitless potential that we all are supposedly seeking. For instance, look at Age or span of physical life. We count years of life and have estimations of Life Expectancy based on certain averages and likelihoods of deteriorations of physical and mental structure. We then base our lives on accepting and harmonizing with these "imposed" limitations. Some may appear to push beyond these barriers but, society as a whole so imbedded in the limitation structure causes these barrier pushers to appear unsuccessful thus; limiting the appearance of any accomplishment subsequently reinforcing the limitation/boundary. Until a Mass Consciousness of belief in possibility of living to be 200 or 300 years old developes, we can't expect to live that long. What about Space Travel? What is holding us back from reaching the closest galaxy to The Milky Way or for that matter, the closest star in our own galaxy? Time (Linear), Distance(measured by Time), Physics(inability to transcend Time or Distance instantly). According to Einstein's Theory Of Relativity, Man traveling at speed of Light would experiance a slowing of time. When we have discovered our capability of Lightspeed Travel, will we still hold the same Time related limits? No. But then, the speed of Light is measured with Time (186,000 miles per <second>). If we experiance a slower passing of each Second while traveling at the speed of Light, then what the hell happens? Just a passing thought. "Time for Supper">>>>>
