AGREED, 100%, my friend! Children today are FAR, FAR too knowledgeable about sexual issues nowadays, as it is, and DO NOT need to be instructed in ANYTHING even REMOTELY connected to pornography. As it is, the children are far too often in danger of predators. Let the CHILDREN remain (innocent) CHILDREN while they are STILL children. "Live long and prosper"
That's why the Supreme Court decided to let communities decide what is obscene and what isn't. However, the books being banned are not obscene as far as I know. Obscenity in reference to pornography in books is gratuitous sex, or if its primary purpose is to arouse the reader. That is for communities to decide where to draw the line. I don't think most school books qualifyas being obscene. I can't imagine any that would. Not even public libraries unless it was a study about pornography. You can buy such books at a sex shop. And I bet there are more sex shops where people are morally repressed by their church leaders.
Show us proof that such a passage exists in a 6 year old's school book. Show us pic of page, name of book and author and what schools have it. Otherwise it's just rightwing propaganda for self righteous fools.
.....many of today's "enlightened" children (of all ages) know far more on sex than I did when I was 18. Growing, up, when I asked Mom the classic, time-honored question, "Where do babies come from?" she told me that they came from the baby department of our local department store! Of, course, I believed her....for quite awhile! For quite awhile there, I thought that women automatically got pregnant at the very same moment the couple heard: "I now pronounce you man and wife." What the heck, I was too busy running my Lionel trains to care much about "relations" between a man and a woman......at age 66, I STILL am of the SAME frame of mind, EXCEPT that I am now 66, and my trains are now antique collector's items! Seriously, I think that WHEN children are taught about sex, it should be with their parents. Hearing "straight talk" from parents is, IMHO, far better than to see them pick up information on sex from "unsavory" sources, outside the home..... "Live long and prosper"
Don’t bother. It obviously doesn’t exist. Saying it’s porn is code for it has lgbqtia themes that bigots aren’t comfortable with They’re lost in maga fox land and actually think teachers have banded together to teach kids to be gay communists
Maybe. I've heard about it from several online sources (I think Timcast or Timcast IRL was one of them) but I'm not sure - I watch a lot of online commentary. I've seen coverage of parents at school board meetings hollering about it. But, hey - I'm probably a fool. I don't think of myself as self-righteous, though. I'm actually a pretty bad person. A true sinner.
i don’t know if you’re a fool or not but you are being played by the media and you are wrong in this case about the content
lol go ahead and believe the random websites that just in the last year, COINCIDENTALLY right when there were efforts to expand lgbqtia rights, suddenly had a problem with books that have been in schools for decades. It’s a culture war, it’s not real. But go ahead and side with the maga bigots if it fits your world view
Bad idea. That's what China and north-korea have, and I think you already know what's it like there for the average Joe. Constant oppression and being monitored by the state and being excessively punished for the slightest infraction, if Big Brother thinks that you're somehow a threat to their privileges. What you want is more political parties, and more choice for the voter. Fracture the playing field, so that no single player can consolidate power into their hands alone. This gives the voters more options and helps in bleeding the old parties out of their excessive powers, when they now have to compete for the votes against new players. It also forces them into a position, where they must now negotiate with the other guys if they wish to form a functional coalition. This helps to eliminate some of the more fringe/extreme ideals and politics when, in order to reach consensus, the old players must abandon some of their more crazier plans, or face being pushed into the opposition. I'm talking about a European style multi-party system here, where no single party has a parliamentary majority by themselves. You want more players, because it forces people to compromise.
Makes a lot of sense to me. To broaden the political "playing field", so to speak, I think is a good idea. You made several good points...... "Live long and prosper"
Exactly! For that they watch Netflix. Sex Education show with Gillian Anderson is an excellent tool for high schoolers. Great show too.
If we keep on this pornography subject, were going to either split the thread or change the title, which I think has been covered already
......too bad that not more emphasis is put on the EMOTIONAL connection that also SHOULD be a part of any sexual relations between two consensual (legal age) participants, instead of just focusing only on the SEXUAL. This, I feel, is VERY important to explain to young people....... "Live long and prosper"
