This sort of thing just makes me so depressed. Although it is not just tigers, I get depressed over the extinction of even the most ugly of creatures. But we are experiencing of horrifying loss of beautiful large predators which is very disturbing.

    Thanks for the link.

They mention that these three subspecies of the eight are already extinct.

Bali tiger -- extinct in the 1930s
Caspian tiger -- extinct in the 1970s
Javan tiger -- extinct in the 1980s

This picture is relevant for several reasons for this thread.

That was kind of my point.

They have spent their lives preparing for this one thing. Now what's next for them? It's not like they are social creatures who could rebuild a society...

I'll agree they couldn't likely rebuild our society... I don't see how that's a bad thing...

Exactly. Id much rather mankind became extinct than any other species of animal. Man will bring about the destruction of the planet anyway, sooner or later. And we're meant to be the more intelligent species... you wouldnt think so.

In no way did I mean that I thought it would mean the extinction of mankind...

I was speaking in terms of our societies as they are now. Those who thrive in this atmosphere, who would have the best change to rebuild these societies, arent going to be the ones that are out in the wilds digging shelters... If only those in the shelters are left, they will rebuild a society... but it won't be one like we have today... That's not saying it will be better or worse, but it most definitely will be different from what we have.

Honestly, though, I can't see it being much worse....
