If that's the case, my cat has been a faithful viewer as well. Sometimes it can get annoying, it's like, what is she thinking? Kind of freaks me out a bit.

I think there is something to that. I've experienced a similar attack with my new little kitten. We we're also in the living room at the time, and the little kitten did a wimpy charge towards the couch, then jumped and clung to my bare thigh for a second. The pain was so instant that I screamed and threw my partner off me. and ofcourse, she had no idea what was going on and thought she had 'broke' my man bits.
