me too. i grew up on donner summet and at least a couple of times every winter the power would go out for a day or two or three. i don't think very many people appreciate what power company repair crews do for a living, or the conditions under which they have to do so. this isn't quite the same as living off grid, though both are liberating of the inner genius that is our true universal nature. my dad worked for the railroad, and watching the rotary snow plows was one of my favorite things about deep snowfalls. the highway department had theirs too. and road closures were not uncommon either.
Legend holds that there’s a family of cannibals still living in Donner pass which accounts for the many unexplained disappearance each year. Is there any validity to the story or is it just an urban legend Hotwater
i like to imagine living in a world with too few people to mine coal or extract oil, who do somehow know and have the technology to make solar panels, power generating windmills, and the energy storage systems to make their use practical and more then sufficient. where the brave and foolhardy salvage the ruins of today's world for building materials, odd bits of technology, and priceless scientific, engineering and practical technological knowledge, while living in primarily subsistence and close to nature village enclaves. and my own its own kind of way 'tribe', building and operating solar powered narrow gauge railways, to provide practical transportation to connect them. a post ecopocalyptic world in which much of what we take for granted today is gone, but scientific and technological knowledge not universally hated nor entirely forgotten, and in which the resources of nature are fully recovered and in good health. and perhaps a world in which, for sapience to survive, it has mutated from what we think today of as human, into those diversity of anthro-animal forms their enthusiests have come to call furry.
No thanks I’m good, Now of course if you were talking to rollinstoned you would be preaching to the choir Hotwater
Listen up ya'all. The universe is expanding. Allah is your god. The god of the universe says "I'd buy that for a micro-bubble"
She/he whatever it is likes to climb monkey puzzle trees naked, because the angels who live at the top will bless her bloody hands and feet and she/he will discover the secret of the enernal pendulum.
strangely enough, if you just search for images of "top" you get a million pictures of some creepy looking japanese kid. i assume there's some explanation for that fact, but i didn't bother to try and figure it out.
I'm Only On My Second Glass Of Wine........I'll Get Back To You In A Couple Of Hours Time... Cheers Glen.
