in the garden there are only seven roses,
and seven young girls by the river.

for three nights their quiet hands froze moonlight,
and the wind, with it's calico smiles,

    placed jasmine in their hair.

So pretty.... To me this is like an unfinished story. It sounds so mystical and it made about a billion images just pop into my head.

that is exactly what it was suppose to do... if you like this then you may like to read the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca and especially his Gypsy Ballads. he's my favorite writer and at one point i even felt that he was the only poet in 20th century that truly matters

he's the kinda writer that you start reading.. then all of a sudden you keep reading and never putting it down and when you do put the physical book down the words still go with you and all of a sudden your life is different. :)

Ok, I just read some random poems by him that I stumbled across on the Internet, and I liked all of them alot. I want to read more, you know, get pretty heavily involved, but I don't know where to start b/c there is so much. It's overwhelming....any suggestions?

    three things:
-his gypsy ballads also called canto jondo or deep song
    -the tamarit poems
-surrealistic poems especially found in Poet in New York

any book store will have at least one of those most likely especially barnes and noble or borders or something.... plus lots of other collections too i'm sure.

and then he wrote many tragedies as well that are worth looking at.
